Compairing last years $235 daily fields

Last year after 11 $235 tournaments, the average field was 1,105
This year after 11 $235 tournaments, the average field was 911

down 18% from last year.

Another interesting stat, at this point lat year they had 12,184 players total who all paid $45 dollars in rake, this equals $548,280. This year they raised the rake to $48 dollars. With 10,030 players so far, they've collected $481,440. The WSOP is down 12% on rake from last years number on the $235 daily.

People are slowly starting to realize it is not worth it going up against John Smith.

Isn't there like a 10% increase in the number of bracelet events this year over last? And another two weeks added to the Series, thanks to the extra events and the Main Event going back to a July finish.

I suspect the overall numbers will ultimately get close to last years. Given the sorry state of Internet poker in the US and cordoned player pools elsewhere, along with increasing local live options, the feeder system is no longer there for the Series to grow.

There are 5 more events this year. 3 of them are online events. The Giant should add a lot more players since it is spread out over 5 weeks.

Was looking at the chip leaders in the Milly Maker... Noticed that Barry Hutter is way up there in chips.. hadn't actually heard of this kid, but if you take a look at his Hendon Mob page, you'll see a really quite impressive and consistent display of wins/high cashes in high rollers and circuit events. He's got 3.6M in tournament earnings. Quite something. Anyway appears to be doing well in this so far as well.

Has anyone mentioned in this thread that John Racener of Yayogate fame took down a bracelet, ($10,000 Dealer's Choice) ?

I guess Yayogate has run its course.

That was quick.

Milly Maker numbers are impressive this year.
7761 entrants, up from 7190 last year.
$1,221,407 for the winner, but a near 500k payjump from 2nd to 1st.
They paid a milly to the top 2 last year.

Payouts last year:

http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/resu...1232&tid=14914

Better than exactly a 500k payjump from 3rd to 2nd and a $65k payjump from 2nd to first...

Not two weeks. A few days to accommodate the final table.

Do me a favor and exchange the first letters of Mr. Barry Hutter's names.

You're right though. This kid's got some chops. Consistently.

C'mon Pokernews. At least try to pretend you care about the non names in the Marathon.

Latest hand update title from the Marathon:

Oh calm down please. I was clearly implying that the assertion that the WSOP has to be moved from the RIO or face certain destruction is bull****.

Hell of blowup by Ralph Perry in the Milly Maker.
Overnight chipleader with 14 left overnight to be gone in 90 minutes in 12th.
I'm sure Tony G enjoyed that.
