Final Table Payouts almost identical to last year, to make up the $2m extra for 1st they've taken between $1k and $10k away from every payout spot starting from 10th all the way to the mincash.

Why would they have to take away anything from the other spots? They need to add $1.6M to 1st, but they should have raised an additional $3M from the extra 330 players. They should also pay an additional ~30 spots, but this would cost $20k*30=$600k. So there should be enough extra in the prize pool to make 1st place $10M, pay 10% of the field, and still very slightly increase the rest of the payouts.

I didn't do any of the maths just looked at last year's payouts vs this years payouts.

Remember they're giving an extra $1m in payouts to the 45 new spots that are paid that weren't paid last year, but pure right a numbers junkie would have to find the other $2m. Scanning your eyes over the payouts shows the reduction I was talking about in payouts for 10th down vs last year

hand at my table today:

Asian guy playing every hand (has like 55k 10 mins in the day) opens to 400 at 50-100, old guy who has said he never has made day 2 before, makes it 1400, asian guy makes it 2800, old guy makes it 6400, asian guy calls. flop is J94. asian guy takes all his big chips (like 40k or so) and shoves them in. old guy laughs and puts all his chips in. asian guy has JJ, and old guy has 99. turn, 9. old guy doubles to like ~70k. Asian guy spews the last 20k away in like ~30 mins, and the old guy is out within 2 hours.

was quite a fun table.

Should guarantee $12,000,0001 next year (> Jamie Gold).

Or how about $18,346,674 so the WSOP can advertise it as the biggest poker tournament in history

And also not officially recognised. The WSOP does not facilitate deals.

But how hard is it for the two heads up players to write up a legally binding contract during the break and do a deal on their own? I'm sure deals have been made in the past.

It's never as easy as here.

Players on the final table have a couple month to prepare for that situation and to have a laywer at hand and since play stops overnight before the heads-up (or for the final three players) there's plenty of time to do paperwork before heads-up play starts.
