playing poker with my bro and his buddy who works at harrah's and from what he was saying, tomorrow their going to announce that the final table at the wsop is going to be in november. Anyone hear anything???
05-01-2008 , 12:05 AM
I will bet you a million dollars this won't be announced tomorrow, and your buddy is a moran.
05-01-2008 , 12:07 AM
I heard this as well.
05-01-2008 , 12:09 AM
Looks like I'm about to lose a million dollars.

I was told that ESPN only had to do a very trivial sign off on it being postponed this year and that everyone else had already agreed. I think it's stupid unless they add a lot of the extra money they're making into the prize pool but since when do they care about what the players want? From the way they spoke about it, it sounded like it was essentially a done deal.

I can't imagine this appeals to the players who end up making the ft that much.

edit: after further consideration I'm taking back the "this isn't the dumbest thing in the world" part.

Confirmation in USA Today

Thank god.

1.) Now I won't have any reason to try to satellite into the stupid thing.
2.) I have additional confirmation, if I needed any, that humanity is ******ed.

lame
05-01-2008 , 12:34 AM
Warl0ck, I can't vouch for your buddy being a moran or not, but you are a million bucks richer!!!!!
05-01-2008 , 12:34 AM
lolol at Johnny Chan's quote in there. Isn't that coming from the guy who requests deck change after deck change?
05-01-2008 , 12:34 AM
Now degens can use their final table credit to go broke before they actually cash.
05-01-2008 , 12:36 AM
This is awful.... I'm moving halfway around the world in August (from Vegas to eastern Europe). No chance in hell I even bother to enter the ME this year (not that I think I'd make the final table but this delay is a major deterrent given my situation).

I hate to say it, but I kind of hope this turns into a huge disaster.

Let's see: one guy dies, one is in jail, one is in rehab, three have agreed to chop, two have agreed to dump, and one plays it straight, but he's already spent third place money, so he better finish at least that high.

Yeah, sounds about right.

I think this is a horrible idea. I was perfectly content with watching the final table on pay-per-view the past two years. Being able to watch the table without holecards was 100x more interesting than watching Norman Chad jabber through a badly-edited version of the same thing. I wonder who they will have commentate the November broadcast?

I hope this is a trainwreck.

Why they don't change it for world serie of ESPN, instead. They will stop like that , go play other tournies away, & come back. It's like if in a professional sport, at the championship match they stop, & play this match 1 month after the beggining of the next season.

This

Unless somebody gets wise and realizes they can all dump to the guy who satted in at Full Tilt and add an extra 10M to the shared kitty....

Should be funny for the no-names that make the FT and have to wait what, 4 months to play the FT?

I can just imagine the guy satting in on a $20 tourney, going back to work at his 9-5, spending a ****load of money knowing he's guaranteed whatever 9th place is in November. Or worse yet, having to get creditors/loans based on his potential WSOP finishing.

It would be interesting if an internet pro made the FT and then sold off a % of himself, would have alot of time to get backers.

WSOP is a disgrace.

Excellent point. Plus there will be arbitrage opportunities based on who sold pieces of themselves for the lowest/highest amounts.

This should be a true masterpiece of riggedness. I can't wait.

Most ******ed idea in history.

Can't wait to see the accusations of collusion and chip dumping that'll fly around.

And what about the people who make it to the final table and they're from another country?

Nice way to degrade the WSOP.
05-01-2008 , 01:08 AM
stupid idea
05-01-2008 , 01:09 AM
wtf!? I can't believe the players committee would sign off on something like this, I wonder if it was even run by them
