Well in your previous post you implied a distinction between the poker community, and what you have called the 'forum community'.
When it comes to trying to make a noise about the endless scamming, and lack of justice exhibited in decisions such as this one with Joe Sebok of all people somehow given yet another job and more money representing poker, NVG (all the nonsense excepted) is far better characterised as being something akin to the conscience of the poker community, rather than a vocal minority of it, or separate to it as your previous post implied. Why bother being a mod here if you view it with the disdain you appear to!!!?

I play enough hands of poker to be considered part of the poker community regardless of whether my only interaction with everybody else who plays poker is on this forum. I dare say I play a hell of a lot more poker than you! Not looking to row, just saying.

Nonsense. Kaiser Philhelm has far more blame on his hands than does Joe Sebok. WTF is Joe Sebok to the average TV viewer? Compared to Phil Helmuth? Who continued to shill for the company for years after the scandal borke and ensuing cover-up evolved. Of course Phil never vouched for UB. He just continued shilling without ever acknowledging the scandals. And heaven forbid somebody call him on it publicly in a tournament -- "FLOOR!"

As outhouse product, Helmuth is only third to Lederer and Judas Ferguson.

Pokerroad and it's various programs were great for the poker community in general, they had a large amount of recreational players as listeners and it kept them interested in the game.

Sure, Sebok may have been a but naive to think he could make a difference at UB but at least he was tying to help poker grow. Crying about everything on twitter and raging on the forums does nothing for poker

Sebock has sold his reputation, done nothing to earn it back, and seems to expect to still have it.

I was just thinking it was about time Sebok pop his head up in some form in the poker world. I am really disappointed in Party taking him on.

Instances like this are why poker is going to continue to struggle to gain respect from the public at large. Continually shooting yourself in the foot is a pretty bad idea.

I have a difficult time believing a legitimate company would touch this guy - and this is one of the "major" poker companies operating. Coupled with the WSOP whose PR guy really has no idea what operating professionally entails, and you're left with a pretty bleak picture of how these entities view their customers.

Hellmuth was simply a UB pro (not that he is without blame). Sebok was hired post-scandal to seemingly make things right, and be a transparent figure - a liason from the online poker community and UB/AP.

Imagine two circles, one the poker community and one the forum community. They overlap to some degree, so you can have people who play poker and read the forums; or some play poker but don't read forums; and some don't play poker but read forums. I think that's all he was saying.

I'm confused now. I don't see that Tweet on Deeb's Twitter feed anymore, and Sebok himself has not mentioned it at all on his feed, which is highly unusual for him. (He has, however, responded to Kim Lansing's congrats on his Facebook wall.)

All other media/news references seem to point to this thread or Deeb's Tweet (or both). Is this confirmed?

Jeez, some serious nitpicking on Kevmath's choice of words. You make it sound like he used "forum community" as a pejorative. By chance, do you have the name "Kessler" in your family tree?

By the way, the distinction has nothing to do with how much a person plays, either. I have two friends who are avid players to the point where they supplement their incomes through poker. They play a few WSOP events every year. They know poker strategy and discuss hands meticulously. Yet they probably don't know know who Ray Bitar is, they have never heard about the UB/AP scandal. Phrases like "too late axe in car" would fly right over their heads. Neither have ever been to 2+2. These people would not count in Kevmath's "forum community" category.

I wish i hadn't stoppeed watching wpt years ago so I could stop doing so now instead.
