Anybody who makes claims to want to do something positive but fails gets a disproportionate amount of hate from NVG because they put themselves out there publicly.

Same reason people are so mad at Phil Ivey, despite him having no more to do with the decisions around the FTP scandal than Seidel, Juanda, etc. and unlike them, actually sacrificing something (last year's WSOP).

It's a little different here because Joe was profiting from UB while publicly attempting/failing to uncover more about the scandal, but Hellmuth and others were profiting simultaneously while attempting nothing.

EDIT: Forgot about Sebok threatening Jon Aguiar. That's a good reason to hate him more than the others I guess.

Look up a few threads, you will discover how much of a piece of utter garbage he is.

He claims to have been combing over information about the company and was unable to find anything. Unpaid 2+2 users uncovered far more information than he ever did, and he had soooo many more resources in front of him to at least come to their same conclusions.

Ultimately what he did is encourage users to deposit on UB during times when he should have known the company was under financial duress. Thusly, he was either: 1) a puppet that had no power all along that was paid handsomely to help improve the UB organization's tarnished reputation to encourage users to deposit again after the super user scandal, or 2) A front man that deliberately withheld information from the poker community that the company was under financial duress and did not alert them to remove their funds before they were completely lost on black friday.

He gave all his friends and the poker community a big **** you when he signed with a known cheating poker site that continued to lie to the players it cheated.

He should have known better and not sold out his soul for a few bucks. He deserves all he gets and will always be viewed as a traitor by many.

Horrible signing by WPT.

Yours is the second post stating you were not around or did not follow the UB thing. If you were you would better understand the sentiment towards a well known pro signing with a huge scumbag site.

It's not like he was an investigative journalist who tried his best to dig up a story and failed. He was a paid representative of UB, spun that role as some sort of "I'm gonna get to the bottom of this!" bull****, learned nothing, and then turned around and assured people that it was safe to play on UB.

The people who believed him lost every dime they had on the site when the **** hit the fan. He continues to tweet about his awesome life and his sweet house on Hermosa Beach that he pays for with money UB stole and gave to him to tell people they weren't crooks. He's never even made a proper public apology or admitted his role in helping UB rob more people.

If anything, he doesn't get enough hate. The fact that poker related businesses continue to pay him money to use his name in association with their products is mind-blowing.

ike, I don't disagree and maybe this a tangent, but don't you feel the same should be said about Hellmuth and others who continued to profit from representing UB despite the scandals?

It would be hilarious if he stumbled upon all sorts of shady things going on behind the scenes at the WPT.

Hellmuth deserves blame, but not as much as Sebok. Sebok was not a poker pro, he was a paid representative who constantly spoke about the company becoming trustworthy after a huge cheating scandal. He towed the company line while being paid handsomely and removed himself from the poker community when the company went under

It really is a shame he is Barry G's stepson. Barry such a good guy, his son is such utter scum...

There are a lot of theories that Phil knew things and kept his mouth shut, he certainly does not get enough **** for it but that's because there is no incontrovertible proof of misdeeds by him.

Joe on the other hand has a long history of being told something he was saying was a lie (for example the description of losing only some hands on a RAID array which is literally impossible given the way a RAID array works) and continuing to repeat those lies with the express purpose of covering up misdeeds and driving more money to a site that had assets less than player deposits at the time he was doing it.

Also, Ike nailed it

Awesome post.

I wonder if there's any chance of getting WPT to reverse decision if enough former WPT participants sign a petition to boycott their events?

Re: WPT signs Joe Sebok

RIP World Poker Tour

Sebok strikes me as a guy who enjoys pleasuring himself while in deep thought about Joe Sebok.

Some of these FT pros that took the bait from Lederer et al continue to get bashed by people everywhere. Here's a guy that signed with UB, promoted them mercilessly AFTER the cheating scandal. Lowest of lows.
