That's very valuable.
His 1M twitter following is not worth as much as it appears to be.

Sebok's account was essentially rigged by an early, now discontinued, Twitter promotion that recommended certain users and caused those million+ people to click the follow button before they knew any different.

I believe social media experts will tell you that "true reach" and other made-up metrics are more important--and he doesn't really engage a wide audience or have much actual influence.

He does have amazing dimples though.

it's disheartening and pathetic how terrible of a decision this is.
he is an accomplice to a company that lied to their customers and stole millions of dollars.
we should be sending email after email to whomever we need to, to make our voices heard.
and those people are sponsors.
is there a way we can get a list of wpt's main sponsors?

WPT or anyone else. I promise I would be such an amazing representative for your poker establishment as long as your goals are aligned with the players and you want to grow the game honestly. Like seriously, I would be really good. Please, PM me if interested

Eh. He's followed by 1M people. Some non-trivial percent of those people like poker and tend to be bored around the time that WPT is on TV. That's valuable.

The number is trivial compared to the number of actual, interested followers that someone like Daniel (or you) have.

They basically gifted Joe Sebok a Twitter account with 1M followers before most people had even heard of the service. It's meaningless.

He doesn't tweet much about poker or anything, he is hated by members of 2p2, which comprise a social media contingent that's more focused and arguably more relevant than all his 1M followers.

What an awful decision by the WPT. How Joe Sebok is not shunned by the poker community is beyond me. This ********** can't even defend his (lack of) actions. And when I say **********, I mean that this guy would probably suck ****, for money - and for a living.
This thread is gonna blow up rapidly and definitely get noticed up there. Hopefully for the better.

Signing is obv a buddy-buddy deal, nothing to do with good business practice.
Shows you how much having friends in influential positions can be worth. Learn from it, forget business school and start kissing ass...

shaniac am I mistaken in thinking you are good rl friends with Joe?

Apologies if I am wrong but I have memories of this from Joe discussions gone by.

If that is the case, what is your opinion of Joes time at UB? I mean are we all being unfair here and if so why? In your opinion.

I'm telling you--his follower count is meaningless, a total illusion.

Look on Klout at the "true reach" metric. That is supposedly meaningful. Kevmath's true reach is way higher than Sebok's too, in actual number and proportion.

Sebok's "true reach" is 530, which is laughable considering he has ONE MILLION FOLLOWERS....Kevmath's true reach is 16k. (Your true reach is 975 -- #HireKarak).

I was friendly with Joe when we played live tournaments in the old days, never "good friends IRL."

I have been very harsh/critical of him ever since the UB signing.

I **** hate joe sebok, the wpt is obviously not run by people who are poker players. When is someone going to step up and make a tour ran by the players.

Did they decide to not google his name before signing him and see all the shady stuff he has done?!?

OK thanks for the clarification shaniac. I think I remembered something about you persuading him to come here for a Q and A session once or something.

Yes because I was sick of him dismissing 2p2, NVG etc as a bunch of irrelevant message board grinders, rather than like, the players he claimed to represent.

Anyway, I did persuade him via email to come on here and engage in discussion, but that was a trainwreck iirc and I'd rather not think about it.

Despite having a few dolts here and there, nvg is jam packed with smart people. Sebok and his 102 iq would get eaten alive. At least he's smart enough to realize that.

Nice that's a pretty cool feature. I've often wondered how many of the accounts that follow me are actually legit and how many are just dupes or bots or idle or whatever. Is that how it calculates "true reach?"

Kevmath with all the power imo.

It's sick, but this is true. He's not branding himself (although he is a brand/sad as that is), he's selling himself for other entities. On a per-click basis, it's not that much, but it adds up and is valuable for a business.

Other players, use themselves as a brand, and it's apparent that they are only shilling for themselves (but may have sweet side deals): Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Antonio Esfandiari, et al.

WPT adding him actually makes sense, since the poker populace outside of 2+2 has no clue regarding his role in UB.

Influential pros who regularly play WPT main events and believe Sebok is guilty, should begin Tweeting that they will stop playing such events. If a meaningful number boycott the event, it will have a huge impact on what has become a mediocre tour anyway.
