Re: WPT Deepstacks Tourney in Texas Already in Trouble?

You mean to tell me all these legal poker rooms aren't legal? How many of you have heard the sales pitch on investing? I fell for it but didnt invest much but dang was he so happy to take me and my buddies money fast. Our recent call on progress was met with more investors are needed and since were OG investors could we do more or recruit more. I mean I believe Trent could sell a Dildo to a nun easily, probably in different colors too that's how good he is. How the hell they gonna have a WPT tournament?

WPT is not responsible for any tournament event details including, without limitation, structures, schedules, formats, general rules or prize pool distributions. Management reserves the right to change tournament dates or suspend or cancel tournaments, in whole or part, without notice for any reason at any time.

Re: WPT Deepstacks Tourney in Texas Already in Trouble?

Table talk is that Freerolls will not be opening in Katy as there claiming to be. The club had to say something in wake of there losses and poor marketing and ownership skills. I'm sure more than one person in that group walked away with a hefty pocket but from TT the decision was made in one day and they cleaned out the place in record time. WPT event will not happen thru Freerolls poker club, was told will happen in houston but another club will pick it up instead. most of the talk was how all the seats that were won will never be honored by freerolls ownership or management. Last night players and dealers were saying that close to 60 seats were won or given out. alot of this info could be false and is mostly table talk but the sources are reliable and most are former employees that play poker.

Re: WPT Deepstacks Tourney in Texas Already in Trouble?

Did Freeerolls just fall off the face of the earth or what? WPT event in 60 days and no promotions and no news on website or social media. I tried calling and messaging and no one has responded. What did they do with Seat winners money? I mean wouldnt surprise me if one owner pocketed the cash as his reputation is well known as a scam artist ex con. I mean for no one to respond has to mean there long gone

Re: WPT Deepstacks Tourney in Texas Already in Trouble?

lets take it from an owner's point of view

you just failed in a location that had a game nearby for the last 5-7 years
you were proceeded by that location opening up a rake free game and it failed in less than two months.

You are to move to a location far outside (traffic wise) of houston - way on the west side
In addition to the construction costs - you are facing a 60k debt of seats you gave away during your prior operation - from what i hear - some number were won by employees - don't know if they paid for their own entry or the management put the employees in but we do know that the tournaments did not generate enough when initially won to award said prizes.

You are not known in the poker community as a game runner / promoter but merely as a player - this is your first exposure in this role and you already have other businesses and a respectable job to fall back on.

That all being said - what would possibly motivate you to open up another location?

Interesting. I didn't realize Charles Potter was involved. I worked with him for the better part of two decades in a different career field. He's definitely a decent guy and knows his stuff. This venture is in good hands.

the business is not going to rely on poker as its main source of income - it plans to be a convention event planner

Re: WPT Deepstacks Tourney in Texas Already in Trouble?

ScamRolls did it again and there Not gonna get away with it this time. ScamRolls didnít pay employees Dealers or Staff for there employment during the WPT DEEPSTACKS HOUSTON EVENT in late September & the reason was that investors pulled out and are no longer funding FreeRolls Poker Club=ScamRolls. Not specific on details other than when employees showed as told to on Monday for pay they were greeted by the CEO Trent and told that all the profit including there tips was used for payouts as there was money missing from prizepool. Not surprising at all and this issue will start making its rounds by weekend. I have a few friends and a couple other friends who worked and invested in the company and probably will never get paid and will never see a return on money. What a shame

That quote does not absolve them of liability. The WPT brand is all over the promotion of that tournament. The dealers will eventually sue everyone they and their attorneys can think of. No downside to the dealers in naming WPT in the suit. The downside is that the lawsuit could expose all these shady operators and the local and state government might decide to look closer at the operations. Looks like Freerolls might blow this for the entire poker community.

WPT basically seems to have no more involvement than the licensure of the name. That would be sufficient in State civil court to have proceedings against them dismissed.

As to 'looking closer' at operations, don't bank on it. The closest you MIGHT get would be to see the Workforce Commission reviewing payroll operations since chances are good that the unemployment taxes were not paid. However, it would not surprise me if the dealers were being treated as contract staff and subject to 1099 payments, placing the entirety of taxes on the shoulder of the individual dealer.

For better or worse, lawsuits in the U.S. do not have to have merit to be filed. Legal fees will be spent by all named co-defendents.

I studied law for a semester at Central Piedmont Community College so pretty sure WPT could easily be a co-defendent as they are in the business of promoting poker tournaments, and reasonable to assume that they had or should have had prior knowledge of operators shady past, yet went ahead anyway.

I'm surprised that WPT licensing team agreed to get involved/stay involved in with the writing on the wall that it was more likely than not going to end badly.

Re: WPT Deepstacks Tourney in Texas Already in Trouble?

Ripoffreport.com Trent Daniel has worked his magic again at expense of his employees he has managed to scam money from investors to never have 0 profit in anything that has run through Freerolls. I see respectful poker players in the community giving this guy the benifit of doubt and Saying he is a great guy but how stupid can you guys be, is he a great friend or great guy. Let him screw you out of your money and your family money and see how you feel about that. I have friends/dealers that have been screwed over and over by this guy. You think this is first time he slow paid dealers and staff while his family sat back there behind him with him and condoned this fraudulent activity. Should they also be accountable or did he work his magic on them too. I hope that one day we all find out what really happened to all this money that investors put in ScamRolls but if he is the man on the cover of there business then they are screwed. To think Cardplayer put this guy on the cover of there magazine as game changers. Someone didn’t do there homework, I would have never know to even google his name but thanks to a whole poker room talking about the situation last night it was pointed out to me and everyone else at the couple tables.
