More trouble for Freerolls...looks like they don't have the game room license required by the city, along with a bunch of other Houston clubs:

All the LOL's at that site claiming fines not assessed are actually owed. That collective group of dumbasses shows with each passing post on their website that they have no real understanding of civil OR criminal law. Until such time as a fine is actually assessed, there is NO amount owed to ANY jurisdiction.

It is ALSO worth noting that the Ordinance defines GAME ROOM in the following manner: Game room means a building, facility, or other place that contains six or more amusement redemption machines.

As such, the poker rooms are NOT game rooms as contemplated by the Ordinance. It would NOT surprise me to learn that the numbnuts at SIGH asked about permits under an incorrect section of municipal code.

(a) It shall be unlawful for an owner or operator of a game room to operate, use, or maintain a game room without first obtaining city game room license and if required under this article, a county game room permit.

(b) It shall be unlawful to operate, use or maintain any room or place in the city where persons are permitted to play at any game of dominoes, cards or other games, and for the use of which, or privilege of playing therein or thereat, any money or its equivalent, or any check or counter in lieu of money shall be paid or received, or where memberships are sold for anything of value for the privilege of playing therein or thereat, without first securing a license therefor.

(c) An application for an existing game room location that is submitted by an individual who is different from the individual named as the owner or operator on the current application or a re-application for an existing game room location after denial or revocation shall be considered a new application and not a renewal.

No action. tournament play is only thing they have and its slowing down, played there twice this week. there not doing many big tournaments anymore

houston police are obviously a bunch of liars. they gave them the ok to start the poker room and now are trying to shake them down for some cash. thanks for alerting me to this so i can send the club some cash to help them fight this injustice.

Hope your not sending freeroll poker club cash cause table talk last night was that employees aren’t paid for month. That’s coming from a employees of club. I had a friend invest just a couple hundred dollars and looks like He is drawing dead even though another long time runner said stay away, Mint poker is honestly the best place to play all the action you need is here it’s like going to lake charles but not a 2 hour drive.

Anyone know how the turnout was for the Friday and Saturday night tournaments?

So speaking to my dealer and ex employees of freerolls poker club some say they still haven’t been paid and that the club is crumbling to ashes, questions were asked this week on investments and owner had no answer other than still looking for potential investments to help. The table talk is that the place is a fraudulent scam and kinda rattled me cause I have some friends who invested, not much invested but still to have no proper structure of future forcast just has me puzzled and especially my best friend. How is DEEPSTACK world poker tour gonna even happen there or thru them. World poker tour should have went thru Mint poker, the owner knows what he is doing and he has run big tournaments all over the country. I’m sure someone else will get that tournament and it will still come thru houston

How many people in tournament and cash games?

in june they started a cash bonus to the first 9 players - all of us were very experienced players - no chance of making any decent money

they recently put stipulations on the amount you bought in for - frankly i was not sure why for they still got their $40 so why do they care what we buy in for?

I have only played 1 tournament because I was already in the cash game and since i paid $40 already it was a no-brainer - a $50 freeze out and had 2 tables

No action when i went and played last week. The place has the Card reader table which is nice but the game is horrible and set up is kinda mediocre at best. I know owner tried to get me to invest again but no chance of that happening. If a new ownership would take over i things could get turned around there. Maybe an old school game runner that has a following would help but then again with there financial woes i doubt anyone would want that job
