In this thread I want your honest opinion, who do you think is the worst nation currently in poker?
You can make a short list, we can even add a poll, whatever you like if the mods play along. Which nations make great progress. Or Just tell us who is the worst nation. Is it the crazy Russians? The crazy Brazilians? Who at your table and why?

I had this conversation with the poker buddy a while ago. He insisted it's the Brazilians whereas he thought the Russians have very good players. I busted out to the best Brazilian recently, this is why I'm curious for more opinions.

I go first. I think it's the Romanians, sorry dnegs, then Brazilians, then Polish.

Statistically it has to be India. Do they have a single good player out of their 1.4 billion?..

US, because they have the most moneyz and they watch a lot of how to play gto videos,so they would be thelargest donators. In terms of pure skill its probably India type of countries, but you wont get much out of them.

Finland except for Paisting.

Obviously the worst countries are a lot of the asian/african ones that have huge numbers of inhabitants but no regs at any decent stakes.

As far as best goes its obviously Finland, they are dominating like crazy in every format despite only having like 5 mil inhabitants. Belarus is also a good example of small country with lots of good players and pretty much zero fish lol.

Imo coutries with the most fish compared to regs are France,Spain,Germany, Canada, UK, (USA). Basically the richer the country, the more fish they have.

The Finnish thing is a crazy and long-running trend. FWIW I think Linus is of Finnish origins too.

I know a lot of the top players in the world are from there, but I've found a lot the low-midstakes German tournament players to be really bad.

Yeah Vatican city is a good bet. But how do you know the pope hasn't been running monker sims all year in the basement of the St. Peter??

It's probably a mix of lot of things like good education system and generally smart and atheist population but I think the biggest reason is that it's not that long ago Finland was in a really bad war. People were poor and had not much to eat so even nowadays they don't spend money like in some other countries, even though Finland is relatively rich country now.

Like in a hockey game if some one scores a hat trick, in Finland there's probably one or two hats in the rink while in North America there can be hundreds. They respect money much more in Finland and thus don't want to give it away in a poker table.

I am romanian and I can confirm romanians are in general bad at poker. Because it's a poor country, yes you won't see many fish at mid to high stakes. But at low stakes there are plenty
