Was there some super short stack at the table?

There was a guy who open folded KT 7-handed in LP in the Colossus with like 4-6 BB in his stack IIRC.

Just wild. People get that deep and then turtle up to play for the pay jumps.

The ICM pendulum has swung really far in these things.

Seems to be some merit in playing like a total maniac if you ever get to one of these big FTs with chips.

top heavy PP you're super incentivized to ladder and then get lucky when you achieve what your stack is worth. it's like tanking on the bubble, good strategy is good strategy..

I remember discussion among some pros that it maybe has swung too far and that players are now often over incentivizing say the 8th to 7th pay jump and in the process are torpedoing their chances at the really big scores in the top 3 spots.

Also the woman that folded AQ was 2nd in chips and the jammer was the short stack and had A6. AQ was in the small bling facing a button shove.

Hellmuth at the unofficial final table of 10. Third in chips. david Jackosn, fairly well known player and bracelet winner is the chip leader.

ICM considerations are real when you are at that point in a tournament. Then you have cases in satellite tournaments where tanking/stalling and folding AA pre-flop are the correct plays. We all hate tanking, but what if that helps you ladder up? The Dara O'Kearney book on satellites was an eye opener for me. K7 on a short stack in LP I probably would have shoved, but not if there was a raise before my turn.

It was super nitty. Arieh on commentary cited it as a clear mistake.

I know ICM is a real concept and it's easy for me to tell other people how to play when I'm not the one fighting for life-changing money, but it does seem very exploitable when some of these stacks are just waiting around for other people to bust.

Yup but it's not surprising. He kept defending Lindgren when he scammed a bunch of people after black Friday.

There just doesn't seem to be any blowback or repercussions when you scam in the community. Cheating at this point seems like it gets more hate and of course it's awful for the poker world. But examples are set from the really big name pros and you're right. Negreanu has shown he has no problems with anyone scamming players out of money. It's messed up.

I’ve noticed that while Ivey has been playing the majority of the $10k buy-ins, he pretty much skips day 1 and max late regs at the start of day 2.

He does this even if he busts another tourney really early in the day or isn’t playing anything else that day.

I get the feeling this is probably a poker/life balance emphasis that he’s been talking about in recent interviews.

It’s obvious with his insanely proper posture at the table and weight loss that he’s been grinding Yoga pretty hard.

I guess he could just be grinding huge cash games instead, too.

They occasionally cut to that event for a hand or two but the main coverage is of the $1000 ladies event. You guys need to watch them play.

I would say vanessa rousso but she has a tomboyish sense of style and looks like she could beat me up.
