Will NFTs become a thing in poker? Will NFTs become a thing in poker?

I recently came across this project, Lionshare Poker which is a combo of a poker league and training site, with membership bundled into an NFT token. They're still early and everything is free as of yet but they'll be minting their token and going behind the paywall soon. They've hosted a number of freerolls with some big prizes, which were a lot of fun, and have already put out a solid amount of good training content + live seminars, that has been very beneficial for my game!

OG online grinders Illini213, Roothlus, and Kurt23x are behind it. Well worth checking out!

Yes. so not really greater fools theory. Nor is BTC.

In related news... got tired of a bunch of knuckleheads and scammers trying to to launch a site. So gonna do it the right way (lol yes logo/trademarks cant stay and will change soon. more of internal joke and using to get off the ground).

Launched this literally 1 hour ago. Gonna settle the argument about NFTs and Blockchain and Crypto.

Someone else please go start a site the old fashioned way. Lets touch base in 30 days and compare status

The difference is that I can buy gold now and sell it to someone who eventually sells it to a real-world end user.

There is no end-user for bitcoin, just a real-world greater fool. If bitcoin was free, would you want to have any? Because I (and industry) would take free gold.

The worst analogy I've ever heard.

Free Bitcoin would have just as much value as Free Gold - zero. You and Industry would only want Free gold if it had any value. If it was free, it would have no value.

I think you're being a bit nitpicky - while you are technically correct, I think his point is fairly clear. If there were infinite supply of both gold and bitcoins, which would have more value? I would expect that bitcoins would be worth zero, whereas people would still be willing to pay for gold, because it has an actual physical use.

Now whether that point is important or not, is another matter.

The reason that gold has value is the EXACT same reason that bitcoin has has value.

Bitcoin is just easier to move around and is more exciting to talk about at parties than gold.

Gold Market Cap 10 Trillion
BTC Market CAP 2 Trillion

Not bad since gold has been around for like a 1000s of years and BTC for about 13

So the couple of dollars worth of gold in a smartphone is just there for bling value in your opinion and not for any useful properties it intrinsically has?

Ok, great, there are some very limited real-world uses for Gold. So industry takes a small amount of Free gold. But what do you want it for? Are you making smartphones in your basement?

Anyway, as Bobo Fett said, this is all semantics.

Back to topic of NFT's:

I just bought into my first, Pocket Snails - it was a project that was rugged by its original Dev team, so Apestyles and some other high profile players got behind it and have re-launched.

https://pocketsnailsnft.com/

Owning a snail gets you a bunch of stuff, most valuable is probably the free coaching seminars. As most of you know Apestyles is a member of the BBZ coaching team. There is a seminar tonight with WSOP Bracelet winner Lara Eisenberg.

Floor is super low at like 4.2 sol (which given the dip recently is around $500). There's also a bunch of other benefits like Royalty shares etc.

Definitely one to check out. I was super nervous buying in for my first project but the community is great (and full of big streamers like Fintan Hand, Kevin Martin, Arlie Shaban etc).

you know the team about it is legit when they create a landing page that never says what it actually is anywhere on the page nor how to get one nor what it is/does etc

this is real inside baseball that doesn't make any sense without having a friend holding your hand from the get go

Ya, you're right. The website is lagging behind - they are working on updating it but have been spending most time developing the projects for the current holders.

Loads of info in the Discord & Twitter. Would recommend looking into it still.

Money is the most commonly desired commodity in a given economy. In order to escape the double coincidence of wants, people would sell their goods and labour for whatever commodity was most highly in demand. That is how money arose organically in the marketplace. Many different commodities have been used as money in different societies. The Masai, a mostly carnivorous African tribe, used cattle as currency. Prisoners in POW camps used cigarettes as money. The Hudson's Bay Company used beaver belts as money when transacting with first nations individuals. But gold and silver usually won out because they have many moneyish qualities. Specifically, they are malleable, have a high weight to value ratio, do not degrade easily, are easily divisible, and so on and so forth.

IMO gold's price has little to do with its utility in industrial applications. The primary demand for gold is as a store of value, a hedge against inflation, an investment vehicle, and as a hedge against societal collapse. That is why people want it.

Whether we like it or not, these things will be pushed one way or the other. The problem becomes when it is tied into the core of the game somehow, and you are forced to participate.

I can see it already: "Player x spends $1,000,000,000 to own the 7 of Diamonds".

Fortunately it's been over a year since the NFT hype started, and none of the big poker sites have made any moves to get into this. So we are safe for now!

Well large sits can't because they are regulated and there are no regulations in place for NFTs or games running on any sort of blockchain. Smaller sites of all kinds will emerge with a variety of new innovations and player experiences. Large sites can't.

Aspects of NFTs are over hyped for sure, but actual business have formed and more will be launched inside these NFT ecosystems. Examples below are not hype but are actual businesses, The NFTs serve as investments vehicles where business founders get capital and NFT buyers get ownership. Is it stepping on SEC accredited investor and other rules/regs. Fore sure. But crypto/blockchain as a whole is stepping on rules/regs everywhere. That was sort of the point of you know who's white paper.

here is what an existing business looks like in NFT world

Degencoinflip.com started 6 weeks ago and already $20,000,000+ of flips on their site. Generates $20.000 - $40,000 of gross profit (gaming revenue) per day . not hype. not from any hype. just from people that want to flip a coin to gamble.

Here is what a startup looks like in NFT space

Isn't regulation one of the main benefits of playing on the big sites? Like having separate accounts for player funds, proven security and RNG? Also that they are legally operating in your country, so aren't going to get shut down. I'm pretty sure even crypto sites like Coinpoker have to adhere to this.

Regarding that Pokersols twitter. The off centre logo with the colour bleeding out, and the copious amount of grammar mistakes don't make it look like a legitimate site to trust your money on lol.

Actually, poker and NFTs are now a thing. Specifically, you can play poker in decentralland, if you are wearing a special ICE NFT.

Since you only post once every 3 years, I'm honored that you used one of your very rare posts here.

Probably best to use "paid marketing consultant" to describe my relationship with that NFT project.

You should say that you are a paid shill any time you mention this project.

In the lodge card house thread you said 'I ran across this play' rather than 'I am being paid to promote this'.

Pretty scummy
