How someone can see this and think poker is dying is mind boggling.
See post #25. This isn’t rocket science.

A stopped clock is right twice a day. I am still waiting for Dr. Meh to be right about anything.

Poker is not dying! It's overall numbers may go up and down like a rollercoaster following the path of the economy just like in previous years, but it's back growing now.
Many tourneys & Poker rooms are just getting back up to speed after Covid. Playground Poker in Montreal just had there first WPT in 5 years and the numbers were very good.
The small tourneys are like when everyone on the same street has a garage sale the same weekend, "come on over to our street and pick from all the houses in one area to do some business". You make Hay when the Sunshines!

Nobody likes the crowds but that's not exactly a reason for these casinos to NOT hold these events.

If you're trying to grind 200 dollar events to make a living you're likely wasting your time. But if it lets people play poker and have some fun at a low price point then good for them.

There are plenty of big events out there all summer.

Not sure the context of "bringing something to the poker economy". If he means new people to dump to pros that's not exactly the casinos job or frankly in their best interest. If casinos could fill the room with 4/8 limit rake traps they would.

Dumb take by Berkey as per usual. Anyone who binks one of these donkaments will definitely come back and play more and waste that money (that they didnt have before) in higher buyins. Its obvious that these tournaments bring both money and worse players into the bigger buyins.
