Why the Mat / Mason forum "clean-up"

I hope to avoid a rehash of any of the stubstance of the Brandi threads and thus hopefully avoid having this deleted since I have a real question and genuine curiousity.

What is the point of making this site, particularly this forum, a Brandi free zone? If Mat or Mason would like to chime in on that, that would be great.

I mean, sure I understand the whole thing was pretty damn unseemly, and certain people ought to have been (although they surely didn't display it) pretty damn ashamed of the things they were saying in the various threads. But if the site is trying to avoid unseemly and embarassing, well with OOT, BBV and the zoo alone, that ship has already sailed, long ago and pretty much irretrievably.

And c'mon, this is a fricken gossip forum, fer Christos sakes! And, while I suppose you could conceivably have gossip that is not unseemly or embarassing, if NVG has had a single day in its existence that could possibly be described as toeing the line of decorum, I must have missed it.

Courtesy and decorum, and a relatively civil debate are still, more or less, the norm in the strat forums (at least as much as you can have those things on an internet forum) but get outside those forums and such concepts have long since died an ugly death. And since 80% of the site is now non-strategy forums...what's the point of a blow for civility and decorum here?

And so Brandi's now banned. I'm not a defender of hers by any stretch of the immagination. Look, we all know what she is, but her discourse here, whatever else it was, was pretty clean, free from obscenities, and virtually free of abuse of other members, certainly free of the kind of abuse that would get anybody else banned. If she's banned for the things she's posted, then pretty much all the major players should be banned as well, not to mention 87.354% of the posters on this forum. If she's banned just to keep her drama out of here, and not for what she's actually posted, well that just ain't right.

So c'mon, Mat or Mason, how do you justify this stand on Brandi discussion, given the general tenor of the non-strat sections of this site? Heck, screw the justifications, what's even the point, given that we can all pop over to OOT for a little pornographic level of discourse whenever we want?

Heck, I admit I enjoyed the drama (and D.Sklansky, whew, what an interesting dude he turned out to be!) And given that this was not simply an abberation in an otherwise pristine talk environment, but simply a more outlandish, ongoing (and quite frankly interesting) version of the type of discourse that happens here every day, again, the point of the clean-up truly escapes me.

Comments from Mat or Mason appreciated, speculation from everybody else welcome, if we can avoid getting into the details/character analysis and making this a deletable Brandi thread.

Definitely in the best interest of 2p2 for book sales. 2 years ago I thought of Sklansky as an amazing poker writer who liked strippers. Awesome, right? Now while I still respect his thoughts on poker, everytime I look at Theory of Poker I think of how it's written by a dude that carries around a vibrator and gives money to a ho-bag thief so he can see pics of her unshaven bush.

It takes away some of the luster.

2p2 = The Chinese Government

Well played David Sklansky!
Seeing dirty laundry is only fun when its not you right?

Disgusting!

Feel free to ban me if you want, it's not like the validity of the posts here matter, only the personal opinion of the owners. Good thing that you can trash other people using your own company when its revealed that your own morals are non existent!

Threw out the Poker books I had written by David today and feel less dirty for it!

I am the owner of Two Plus Two Publishing LLC of which this website is a part. The company was built around high ethical standards and the idea that our authors and associates would be treated fairly and with the goal that only the very best would make it to print.

This same philosophy carries over to this website. When certain ethical standards are repeatedly violated, those violators will not be part of this community. Our purpose here, which I have stated many times, is vigorous debate and a little bit of fun. It is not a place of insults or demeaning character attacks.

Best wishes,
Mason
