Why is Doyle Brunson considered to be so good? Why is Doyle Brunson considered to be so good?

OP is right, Doyle was in my house the other day watching Big Brother and eating some pop corn, during one of the breaks we had 5 or 6 hands heads up, he actually folded AA preflop to my OTT all in cause (and i quote) "No way I ALWAYS lose with these....Ooouuu Big Brothers back on SSssssshh"

"aggression of the newer players. " Just another loser that has a computer so they can beat a legend. Kids and their dreams

Brunson has admitted in atleast one interview in the past that he's a loser in the Big Game, and that he just plays now so he can be remembered as playing the biggest stakes for the longest time.
Is he really?
Maybe he plays there, so Ivey, Negranu, etc. will play golf with him for even larger amounts.

PA: How could you make that call?
Doyle: How could I make that call? How could you make that bet? We're playing poker, not solitaire.

You saved a [censored] thread. Well done. I love that clip.

Most likely, OP was serious originally, but once he realized what a gooftard he'd made of himself he figured he'd try to get out of it (admission, stand in line, where is Bobby's Room).

At this point, OP's best move would be to write this account off and register another one.
I think OP is serious. He is probably some shmuck who saw the featured table on TV and thought this Brunson guy is a fish. There are tons of idiots like that in the TV forum. OP is probably not a professional player, and probably does not know what Bobby's room is.

How do u explain that he's still in the action of the biggest cash game ?

That money can't come from only from his win of the 70s-80s etc, when the biggest regular cash game were 200-400 limit & the 1st prize were rarely a 6-digits or so, & now that he plays 2k-4k.

I think the people who seem legitimately offended by the OP are waaaaaay funnier than the OP.

Did you actually watch this clip? What you describe is not what happens at all. Doyle turns the nuts and JG folds his OESD because Doyle overplayed it. Doyle bet/folds with air (correctly). And then Doyle gets owned by JG - owned by the same banter with which JG owned everyone at the WSOP FT.
[x] Numbers of posts > Number of hands played.

doyle is great, watch him on hsp, he plays really good no limit if you ask me... strong value bets, big bluffs, etc. When i watch him play i feel like he is one of the best.

There you go again, Jason. Making sense in a nonsense thread.

No way is the OP serious.

I like Patrick and all, but he was completely owned by that line. Doyle is the man forever.

Dont get me wrong, I;m sure twenty years ago Doyle was one of the best ever at Hold'em when noone knew what they were doing. Now everyone studies and knows everything. Back then he had noones to play against today he has people like Negraneua, Tuan Lee, Jamie Gold, Allen Cunningham and so on. These guys are fearless and would tear Doyle apart in the long run.
09-03-2007 , 11:12 PM
yawn, just stop posting
09-03-2007 , 11:15 PM
I have no doubt JG will tear anyone apart in a long run.

I think you're correct. Because obviously Doyle appears to be very scared when playing the likes of Jamie Gold. Damn nitty I would say....

Nice try, its Negraneua since there's no professional poker player by this name.
