Why is Doyle Brunson considered to be so good? Why is Doyle Brunson considered to be so good?

He won 2 Main Events and has around 10 bracelets but there was only about 10 people back then. In the main event he just calls every bet when he is dominated. I think the new generation of poker players is going to dominate his passive playing style. He is just way too passive to keep up with aggression of the newer players. I am watching the main event now and it is sad to watch, he is nothing but a calling station. He may be the most over-rated player ever!

I have only played in one but I at least have a shot to win a main event. Doyle is pretty much just giving his money away in these things. He would get run over if he was at the same table with me or other online players.

I suppose you have only seen the WSOP ME 07 episode with him on the feature table and surely it wasn't a good performance by him. However look around and you will find much better stuff from him, you can't judge a player by a couple of televised hands.

I agree with Doyle being extremely overrated - I dunno why everyone slobbers his knob

I mean, Helen Keller could win a 10 person SnG i.e. the main event way back when

Brilliant laydown. Although it probably had more to do with his knowledge of Chip than anything else.

I wonder if he put Chip on AA/KK or a set ... ?

Why is Jimi Hendrix considered to be so good? There are hundreds of guitarist who can play better than him and not say "Blah Blah Woof Woof". I bet Ralph Machio would blow him away if they met at the Crossroads.

PA: How could you make that call?
Doyle: How could I make that call? How could you make that bet? We're playing poker, not solitaire.

I called an all in, in a home game recently with pocket 4's while my friend was itching to show a 2 7 bluff when we were HU with even stacks. Doyle looks like a genius, I lose 40 bucks to a 7 on the flop. =/
