Hi, I was at the WSOP for past two weeks and I couldn’t help but notice the many many players (especially the well known pros) each had 2,3, I saw one with 4 cell phones out on the table. I’m just wondering especially for the professionals who clearly play poker full time, is there any legitimate reason to have 3 or 4 cell phones? Is it just something I’m missing in terms of security breaches, or conducting business? Typically in my life experience the only reason to have multiple phones would be a COMPANY ISSUED phone, or a drug dealer having a second drop phone, or a second phone for a mistress. Especially with VOIP apps such as google voice which can easily add a second line on your phone, why do some of the players have these?

It's so that they can talk about how stupid pokergo on the low-key. It is turning online communities into idiotic shells so that they get addicted to their site. Shame on Daniel... Why you don't move on from your role there.... You don't look happy. And you know why

I don't know about the WSOP pros, but I currently have 3 phones.

The main reasons:
I get a newer version of iphone every few years, but the previous one still works.
I'm too lazy to put all of the apps + all of the info from the previous phone on to the new one, so I just carry 2 around. One for the normal use, and the second for the info or in the case that the battery dies on the main one. I also have multiple Facebook/ Pokemon Go/ E-mail accounts, and having multiple phones helps with this, especially when I intend to use 2 accounts at once.
The 3rd iphone I use more or less just for music/movies. It's like an ipad.

Drug dealers, mistresses, bookies, prostitutes, etc

If you back up your iphone using your computer's itunes app, your next iphone can be restored using this back up which will then transfer "all" your stuff into the new iphone, provided you're using the same ios on both devices.

There’s no reason for a second phone otherwise, since you can have google voice or another program to get a new number.

Women can be part of the issue, but when you are getting into the 3rd or 4th phone I’d say it’s a bit ridiculous. You can’t possibly legitimize that women issues are the sole reason for your 4th phone purchase. On top of that, having all 3-4 out on the table right next to your chips during a 10k event?

1. Company Issued Phone.
2. Drug-Related Business.
3. Mistress.
4. Personal.

A bit off topic, but I remember back in the 90s I used to ask this very same thing about people who had multiple pagers.

I once worked at a restaurant where a waiter had THREE pagers -- all clipped onto his belt line. I once asked him why and he said it was because he was "important."

But in truth he was putting them all on VIBRATE and just paging himself nonstop from the payphones. He got exposed one evening when they all went off at the same time and he dropped a boatload of prepared food on a table of customers.

I use my ipad, and 2 phones to multi table a PPPoker club (only 1 table per device, even if 3 games running). Would think this may be part of it.

If its a drop phone would assume they are more discreet with it, but who knows.

If you ever start seeing a women who has more than one phone, leave.

To be clear, your life experience includes a company issued phone, dealing drugs and a mistress ?

Veiled brag aside, there are other reasons ...especially in the case of international travel, two or more regular numbers used, etc.

Two phones is not that odd .... personal and business on separate phones to avoid having calls overlap each other.

Also, not having every app/service on the same phone seems a good idea

Not a brag at all but I have enough live+life experience that makes a few of the mentioned scenarios seem logical. This just off the top ofMy Head of course.. this is what I’d assume. I’m talkiing about the players you know DO NOT work at a company to have a company issued phone, and seemingly do not deal drugs. Some players I saw with at least 3 phones include: Michael Mizrachi, Daniel Alaei, Ivey, marchese, etc.

But seriously...... single guys do not bother rolling for multiple phones. From there the rest can be worked out easily enough . Most spoken for guys also have worked out that transaction based playing is waaaaay more than efficient than mistress type headaches so I’ve got the split at 10% mistress/90% working girls

Some people have business numbers. I'd guess that a lot of pros use seperate numbers for their personal, business (coaching students, other business purposes etc.)

Oh, it seems I figured it out. That would expose him and make it quite difficult to carry a boatload of prepared food without dropping it on a table of customers.
