Maybe I'm way unaware but why would an advisory firm be called "regulated"? A crypto advisory firms have to get approval from regulatory bodies? Weird to me.

Haseeb dumped my stake money to Jungle on Lock Poker via this guys identity. Haseeb had a prior history of this, but the scheme blew up once the HSNL group figured out about the trojan Haseeb was using to see cards. Jungle would offer his coaching and rebates to those who found out about his own personal use of the account without Trojan. There is evidence of the Girah account dumping to Jungles account(SamChuan). Most of the HSNL group that caught Haseeb would stop posting after weeks of crazy threads in August 2011 because they were paid or stopped caring. Was about ~150k + 300k in makeup. Haven’t seen Haseeb since and Jungle won’t respond to me. Vanessa Selbst and Noah Stephens David would write articles letting Haseeb claim that I was wanting to move to Portugal to live with this guy. LOL! But would never confirm anything with me. Lol. Lock Poker quickly went under after this was mostly unraveled. Jen Larson, the manager for Lock Poker was the perfect linchpin. The site would go under shortly after this all happened.

Not sure about this Giray guy, I remember he was one of the best up and coming card players in the world at that time though.

What I do know is that I really liked the writing style of Haseeb. He reminds me of a young F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Hang on - 70 miles in under 24 hours? Surely you can easily walk or super light jog that? Easiest 300k ever.

Btw, loved Haseebs 'how to be a poker player'. Possibly the only poker book that I've read in full multiple times

Met Haseeb and Jungle a couple of times on The Rock when that stuff was blowing up in August of 2011. Fun times fo sho.

Girah seemed to be a very smart kid, good for him.

Haha, still my favorite part of that whole saga. And thanks to the OP for the link to the thread, one of many on 2+2 that is quite interesting to read in retrospect.

Also, this illustrates another example of how time in the poker world never seems to match time in the rest of the world for me. The Girah thing seems like FOREVER ago, and yet Forbes reminds me that Macedo is only 27 years old now. I chalk this up to my getting into the game relatively late, but still*.

The Forbes listicle says he is a founding partner, but the Amazix website says Paolo Anziano, Luke Saunders and Jonas Karlberg are the founding partners. According to Macedo's own LinkedIn, he joined Amazix as an analyst in March 2018, almost a full year after the company was founded. (Macedo DOES list himself as founding partner for the offshoot 01 Capital.)

I assume this is Forbes conflating or confusing some of the details. Certainly, Parsons Grinder is correct in his skepticism.

Spoiler:
*Yes, this does create strange timelines for me. For example, I have distinct memories of the Peyton Manning-Ryan Leaf NFL Draft discussions. Meanwhile, "if you call, it's gonna be all over, baby" at the WSOP ME final table seems like ancient history. And yet those two things happened within a four-week span in 1998 – about four months before Rounders hit theaters.

In 2013, Haseeb was sending emails to a bunch of poker news sites begging them to take down negative articles about him. Some of them complied. Meanwhile, he plastered his name all over the place on other websites with positive/neutral content.

So now when you search for his name on Google, any information about his scamming in poker is buried far down the search results. This is called reputation management SEO, and he had great success doing this to cover up his past.

I said above that these threads are often interesting to reread with several years of retrospect. For example, this is from Qureshi's initial post:

Quote:
Jose then secured an agent (Jim Erwood, Poker Royalty) and a sponsorship with Lock Poker (which was a deal closed by Jim Erwood who had been instructed by Jose to seek out sponsorships). As a result, I started to do less for him and although he still ran some things he would write by me I no longer took the time to edit them as extensively.
Erwood is the guy who more than a year later joined Lock Poker as its "Team Manager." His name came up quite often during that site's cashout woes, since his job was effectively to sign players as sponsored pros (best I can tell, anyway). Erwood is still at it, it seems.

The former Chancellor at our university made some headlines about hiring ORM services about four years ago. Her act of doing so actually drew more attention to the incident from five years prior – so much so that the name Linda Katehi was listed in the Wikipedia article on the Streisand Effect. (The mention has since been removed. She probably hired Alec Torelli's Wiki editor, too.)

AmaZix have a horrible reputation in the crypto space. During the 2017 bubble they provided community management services to a bunch of ICOs that ended up doing really badly. Correlation/causation, not necessarily their fault, but no one really takes them seriously.

Talking to their community management reps was like talking to robots. I know people who were not touching specific icos towards the end solely due to them being run into the ground by amazix. Of course they were all scams in the end anyway so it doesn't really matter!

Are you joking or living a sheltered life? That is a common male name in Spain, especially as Jose-Maria. And Jose is also a female name.

That's the only book I did NOT like yet read twice because of the high praises it was getting. I still don't understand why people think it's that good.
