I am curious who people think gets the most undeserved respect in the poker world.

I'll start with one. AEJONES. He constantly talks as if he is the best player around, but TR shows him as really just a luckbox who won at the highest stakes in his range and has a NEGATIVE winrate overall over a large sample. Am I saying he is bad? No, his negative winrate is against good players and is small. But he is really not even an average high stakes player while many talk of him like the cream of the crop. He and them are delusional. His TR is also very skewed because he had small pieces of himself in the big games he ran hot at.

So that's just to get it started......who else makes the grade?

durrrr is an interesting one, and you are probably right. he is a great player, but far from the mythical status he has garnered. He is even a big lifetime PLO loser over many hears and hundreds of thousands of hands.


again, this thread isn't about who sucks, but simply who is considered way better than they really are.

As for durrrr, a lot of the praise comes from people who have to play against him. He is untouchable in NLHE. Every time he has been on TV he has owned everyone so badly it's ridic. People are starting to have lowered opinions of him because he is down online this year. I have a feeling if we had a way to monitor the big live games, he would live up to the hype.

As to the PLO comment, do not forget that he is up almost 1 million against PA in the durrrr Challenge. And PA is no slouch from what I hear.

durrrr is probably the most overrated, but it's all relative.

what about non-nosebleeders? besides the most well known, are there people who are way overrespected in the 5-10 - 25/50 range?

I would think people who have been around for a while and are up a lot lifetime but may have been left behind a year or 2 ago, probably with a lot of posts on 2+2...

is AE jones really a losing player/bad player? man.. im listening to his audio tapes and taking all his advice to heart maybe this isn't a good idea
