I want to see Berkey call a 4bet from Polk with some garbage, stack him in a 600bb pot and then get berated by Polk for his play.

Traditionally hearing the table talk was a cool thing about PAD, but this makes me really cringe, esp. Rast

Ya, the conversation is embarrassing, but not because they're "white and privileged".

Shoutout to Haxton for not piping up into this conversation.

I'm not saying it's a terrible conversation or that what someone is saying is wrong, I'm just saying it's impressive to shut up in the middle of this

edit: ops, never mind.

Am watching MasterChef at the same time, and am working on something else on the side, and missed the conversation - more drama on MasterChef, even without David Williams on this season, blowing his temper every 5 minutes

It seems like everybody's a lot more relaxed and chatty than they were at the start - wonder if the play may loosen up a bit too? Oh wait, it sounds like they're saying it's too hard to loosen up in a tough game?

Guess this table's a lot different than Bill Klein bought in for like 800bbs

Kind of glad to have missed the cringey stuff ...

Doug is treating this thing like a ****ing podcast but I don't think I'm ready for two 6h podcasts.

Koon leading the charge to trashing pre-black Friday players. Kinda like hearing the real story. It's like listening to Privateworld talk to himself.

Jason Koon has a problem with people saying he doesn't have a fun personality yet here we are... He should be forced to listen to himself for the next 2-3 months non-stop.

He is but Jungle is always unconfortable in any conversation, it's just his autistic traits I'd guess. Haxton might be a bit odd but he at least understands social cues and normal conversation. Haxton is nerdy, Jungle is autistic savant.

I think this game is sort of the death of TV poker in a nut shell.

Pros: I mean it's arguably a few of the best players in the world and some extremely competent Hold'em players. For the hardcore poker fan this is going to be extremely interesting, within reason at least.

Con: To your average arm chair poker fan this is going to be like watching paint dry. Of course the argument would be that when it's being aired on a pay monthly subscription 'poker tv' site the most likely viewship will be hardcore poker fans > arm chair fans but it doesn't detract that an arm chair poker fan will watch this for a few minutes max and then switch off.

At the end of the day it really isn't entertaining to just watch a bunch of players play 'correctly'. The pots are going to air on the smaller side and the action in general is never going to be out of line. It's not like tilt is a factor nowadays too as the modern high stakes pro has been drilled mentally into never giving up the edge from that perspective.

I guess Mori and co will probably have a rethink after this, it would be particularly interesting to see the viewer numbers between the Dwan return episodes and this cash game episode to see how large the drop in viewers is exactly.

In future I think the pro only format works still within the parameters of SNGs as the nature of the escalating blinds and playing down to that all important 'winner' is strong enough to keep viewers watching until the end. However, these pro only high stakes cash games are likely to make poker almost less popular than more popular.

It should be noted that as a fan this isn't a reflection on the personalities of the players. They're turning up and doing their thing. The table talk is probably mildly entertaining given they're all intelligent men. Ali is clearly struggling to keep his role interesting and they should definitely consider to get a pro in the booth with him to give him someone to work off and to answer some strat questions etc that'll likely be interesting in a line up like the current one.

Maybe not on blast. But he basically spoke up said Antonio uses the term wizards as a derogatory term towards them.

"it would be particularly interesting to see the viewer numbers between the Dwan return episodes and this cash game episode."

That isn't a fair or accurate metric. Durrr coming back was like the most anticipated event in five years.

I thought he just took that term from Laak. And I can't imagine Phil using that in a derogatory fashion at all. Phil always seemed to be genuinely impressed by the people he might call a "wizard".
