yup! a good barometer for how much I'm going to like a person that knows him is whether or not they like him.

Disclaimer: I'm crazy too.

this story sounds like one that involved perkyschmerky.

yeah you'd think he was drunk but he's not...another funny story is that one day when he came to do his all-in blind thing, I paid a guy ten bucks for his seat so my friend could sit in and he lost a full BI with QQ...good times!

Had the pleasure of experiencing Crazy Mike first hand at Aria yesterday shortly after Noon. It is hard to capture the spirit and energy he brought to the table for the 5 or so hands he played, but it was positive and clearly meant for entertainment.

Crazy Mike sits down with a rack loaded with $1k and $5k chips (he was waiting for the game in the Ivey room) and announces he is all-in on every hand (fortunately he only buys in for $100 to the 1/3NLHE). He then reaches over and takes the dealer's "All In" tag and announces that it stays in front of him for each hand.

At this point I think none of the players at the table knew who he was. He yells out, "Where's my cocktail waitress!" and a waitress from about 30 feet away immediately hustles over to the table.

"What's my name?", he asks the waitress.

"Crazy Mike!" the waitress responds loudly and enthusiastically.

In response, Crazy Mike tosses some type of chip (I think) on her tray and asked for something.

Crazy Mike never looks at his hand until the board has dealt and then starts yelling, "How'd I do? Did I win? Did I win?"

For the first two hands nobody calls Crazy Mike and he collects the blinds and give them to the dealer.

I was fortunate enough to catch JJ on the fourth hand and I call Mike's all-in and win a hundred. He did not have any small chips, but says, "You know I'm good for it!!" to which the dealer deadpans, "He is".

A few moments later Crazy Mike hands me a $100 from his wallet.

I'm keeping the hundo as a souvenir, but donated $100 to the American Red Cross.

Las Vegas is very accommodating to 2+2 readers. Read about people here and they show up at your table when you visit. In my last two trips I've played at the same table with Pezbaby and now Crazy Mike. Can't wait to see what happens the next time.

Nice way to donate a donation... sounds like a hilarious guy imo. I'd be glad to call his blind all in blind just to needle him back.

My Crazy Mike experience.

Mike is in London for the EPT, which was being held at the Victoria casino. He runs up to the cardroom desk , waving his players card.

Mike " Put me on all the lists. I wanna play the highest games you have. Do you have any limit games, what's the highest game you have, put me on everything"

Me " Whats your name please, sir " ?

Mike " Crazy Mike, they call me Crazy Mike, just put me up as crazy.I'm crazy, everyone all over the world konws me as Crazy Mike, put Crazy Mike on the biggest games".

Me " I'm sorry sir the system will only accept your real name. It's linked to I.D. that you used to become a member."

Mike " I'm crazy Mike, I'm crazy. Everyone all over the world knows me as crazy Mike."

Grabs Jeff lisandro, who happens to be walking past.

Mike " Whats my name"?

Jeff ( with a bored look on his face ) " Crazy Mike ".

Mike " If I can't go up on the list as Crazy Mike , I can't play"

Then runs out of the cardroom. All this happens in the space of 2 mins and he doesn't stop to breath once.

He's not just like this in poker. Like, we went to McDonald's once and after placing his order he asked for a free hash brown. Obviously they are like, "um, no, we don't do that."

So he goes, "okay, let's see how generous you are" and put a $5 bill in the little charity box they have at the register. "Now can I have a free hash brown?"

The manager gave him 2 and he left satisfied.

I don't understand. Why didn't he just challenge Brian Townsend to HU for hash browns?

He was playing at the Orleans the other day. Apparently he had a pretty brutal day at Aria, set up a home game 3/6 mix with his friends at the Orleans, and between hands was coming over to our NL table and going all in blind every hand. He was wasted BTW

Here's a funny thread from the archives about Crazy Mike at the 2007 WSOP:

From pokernews.com updates for 3k limit event:

Hellmuth's Aces Cracked, Mega-Tilt Ensues

Phil Hellmuth and Linda Ryke-Drucker capped the action pre-flop. The flop was Q 8 4 and they capped it again. The turn was the 10. Drucker bet and Hellmuth called. The river was the 3. Drucker checked and Hellmuth checked behind. Drucker showed Q Q for top set and Hellmuth slammed his A A on the table.

Immediately after the hand "Crazy Mike" Thorpe ran over to the table and asked "Hey, are you Phil Hellmuth? Can I shake your hand?" Fuming, Hellmuth called for the floor.

"I lose a huge pot and I have to deal with this guy coming over?" Hellmuth roared. Thorpe was escorted back to his table and reprimanded while Hellmuth was left to steam.

Amusing edition to the story from the reporters from a different reporting site.

"Hellmuth lost a huge pot in the $3000 Limit Hold'em event to Linda Ryke-Drucker's Queens, and as Hurricane Phil was building up energy to blow, Mike Thorpe decided to step in and steal the spotlight by pretending to have just noticed Phil and wanting a handshake from his poker idol.

Aghast and ready to go nuclear, Hellmuth sat back stunned, as Thorpe called the floor, himself, and asked the official to make Phil shake his hand. Instead, Thorpe was led back to his seat and reprimanded."

Back in his home town they used to call him 'High School Mike' rather than 'Crazy Mike'. Anyway he came home this summer and paid a guy a hundo for a seat at my 4/8 half kill omaha high table, which he bought into with $1700. As it turns out he almost needed that much to play in this game.

When he sat down he announced to the table that there was going to be a mandatory minimum dealer toke of $5 per hand and that if anyone failed to tip at least that much he'd leave. Most pots went off capped pre-flop and were capped on the flop as well. All the while Mike played his cards blind until the turn. It was the best action game ever and everyone had a great time playing with Mike. If I remember correctly I think he got into his third rack of red before he began to hit some hands and eventually cashed out a small winner for the night.

He does this thing where he asks people stupid questions, like what their favorite food is or how many siblings they have or whatever over and over again and won't let them not answer. He forces people to talk to him then interrupts them to ask new questions or tell them how much he loves Pepsi. It sounds sorta innocuous but after a couple hours of this **** in his too-loud crazy person strident monotone, it gets pretty intolerable.

He was doing this to some poor 50-something guy in a Doyle's Room hat at a table with me in a 1500 mixed LHE/NLHE WSOP event when the guy broke down and started crying, said something about how he'd just found out on the last break that his brother had died, and begged Mike to stfu. Mike did not stfu.

He seems like such a lunatic that its almost hard to hold it against him, but at the same time I've never seen someone more deserving of being barred from a live poker room, with the exception of actual cheaters. I'm sure he drives people away and costs the casino money every time he shows up.

To be fair, a bunch of people I'm acquainted with and like, seem to like him. So maybe I just caught him on a bad day, or maybe he's a different guy away from the table.
Although I find most of the crazy Mike stories funny, this situation was crossing the line. The man just had a family member die, was crying, and Mike would not leave him alone. That is really terrible IMO.
