uhmmi dont remember people making fun of Guy Laliberte? If they did, im sure everyone else would laugh with you.

We all know Guy Laliberte is a shark of life. The dude is in the top 0.1% wealthiest people on the planet.

But this thread was not about ppl who are a success in the real world. Its about people that have ground up their roll.

Also i have to say where is OP? He makes a thread then never comes back!

However.. the funniest builder has to be Isildur. The kid said he had 11m dollars. Enough to set him up for life. Buy any car he wants, any house, go on holiday anywhere and instyead hes spunks it up the wall lol. And that was only from 2k

I read a post / story from him but i cant find it where basically he says he had money , lost it. Got more money and lost it... Then borrower from his parents (his dad went insane) - and this was the money he used to deposit and turn into 1.5m... which he then used to deposit on FT etc... (so imagine if he lost that other 2k as well!)

And also someone like Jungleman - what a sick life knowing that if you ever need money - just get a job at Mcdonalds for a few weeks and grind up your wages!!

Yes because if you're good at poker you're good at everything. Gotta love the poker players perspective on life.

Most cash game players grind their way up these days (online anyway). Only the MTT donks that take shots well above the bankroll.

Hasn't Harry Kaczka ground up huge rolls from nothing a number of times lately under his various user names?

It has been sad watching for years so many yutes thinking poker was a legitimate way to make it. 99% of it was an illusion and charade. There are only a handful of well off poker players and almost all of them benefitted financially outside of winning. There are no really well off people who are poker players by profession.

It has always been a million to one shot with a relatively low ceiling for success. Never understood the allure of itself other than people wanted to believe they could sit around playing cards and make ridiculous money. Can not happen will not happen. Plenty of people make livings but mostly middle class existences with huge risk of ruin. It is not exactly the ballah life style.

I always would smile when people would make fun of Guy. A guy who can easily afford to lose two hundred thousand on a hand for entertainment playing against some guy who is living or dying on the other side of the bet. Too many people looking up to the wrong side of the table. I feel bad for kids who spent years chasing a dream that was not even real. Was just a put on that others used to make money. Lots of people have made lots of money off poker, just none of it by playing poker.

Anyone that can grind out 75k a year at poker could likely make the same amount in the real world with more upset and less risk. How many poker players that many looked up to are just degens chasing their fix and hoping for that next big score to get them on track.
Cry me a river and go see a psychiatrist, I've never heard more depressig drivel. And there is still countless players crushing online for 6+ figures

Im sure there are some people who grinded up from a couple hundred dollar roll to playing the biggest games. But its also quite a bit tougher these days as the low stakes games have gotten way tougher.

Yeah but honestly the dude's post is almost 100% bang on accurate and we shouldn't really be debating the minutiae too hard imo lest some burgeoning entrepreneurial type reads this thread and makes a dreadful decision about where to place their talent for the indeterminate, torturous future.

Which is kind of annoying.

Why do poker sites need to have pros affiliated with them?
Is there anyone who actually wants to be on that site to justify what they pay those guys?
Why not ax the pros and make it up to the players who play there?

On topic, what about Dusty?
