So I watched Egption on twitch yesterday as he came in second in the Sunday Million. Watched the final two tables and the eventual deal followed by quick bust outs by the 3rd player then Egption. Player who won had Standard Backing badge. The player lftgjc has 5$ avg. buy-in and is a break even maybe slight winning player.

It's not that I don't think it is possible for a micro donk to have an amazing run and a few key suck-outs to propel him to a once in a lifetime score it was that his game play was superb and far advance beyond what you would expect from a 5$ grinder. When it came time to deal he turned down and even chop when he was only giving up 3k to lock up a 107k score.

With the new deal making option pokerstars has put in place no chat or moderator is able to work out swaps that might make deal making easier. Egiption emailed pokerstars to have a moderator come to help facilitate a deal, this happened but only after a few hands had been played that went in favor of lftgjc. At this point the icm number had moved and a deal was struck for Egiption and Alin76poker (the 3rd place finisher to each get over 100k. Egiption negotiated for more and then lftgjc negotiated for 1.2k more so that Alin76poker got an even 100k. The negotiating was tough and something you wouldn't expect from a low level player.

After Egiption eventually busted and some other members of his house (also twitch streams AllinPav the only one I know) talked a little bit about the signs of the backed player being ghosted before muting the sound.

I play recreationally but have been playing for sometime. It is obvious to me when I get deep into a tournament with a few K uptop which players are comfortable and have experience deep in tournaments. I play on ignition so I don't have the benefit of sharkscope. I will post and link to the tournament results so you can see for yourself.

https://www.sharkscope.com/#Find-Tou...nts/2412479908

I am not a person who gets involved in the NVG drama and wants to out every person who I think might be cheating without hard evidence.
To be honest I was really surprised not to find a thread already about this as over 3k people watched the stream and Egiption was pretty adamant about what he thought was happening.

I guess I'm wondering if people have just accepted this as standard practice like Russian bots and really don't think that this is thread worthy. I know I have seen other streams in which players have openly suggested that people they were on the table with were being ghosted. I thought that when it happens at the final table of the biggest tournament of the week it would have gotten some attention from the community but I have not been able to find any mention of it in this form nor the MTT community of Twitch forums.

If there is already a thread please feel free to merge it with the existing one. If I am outline by posting this the moderators can feel free to remove it.

Standard. Fairly sure that Stars' stance on this has always been that they can't enforce the rule so I don't believe it's even against ToS.

Here you go.

egyptions average buy in is $12.50.

I find it hard to believe there has never been a "do I four bet 99 here" during game play in that house.

Speculation is everywhere.

Not against stars rules as already mentioned since they cannot enforce it unless someone is literally logging into your account from another IP / across the world on break. If its through teamviewer or skype and telling you everything to do it is 'fair' game.

They explained it years ago when one of the stars pros who twitch stream had a friend discussing how to play hands (cannot recall who did it first to start controversy) I believe.

Fake news. No evidence. Every now and then, a complete amateur has a good run. Darvin Moon was ghosted? Then the 'pros' get all precious about it and try to make themselves feel better.

Even if he was ghosted - someone got beat by someone else.

Seems to me that this is just part of playing online. The poker landscape has been changed by HUDs, solvers, stables and coaching groups. You can't cry when you're not able to put the snake back in the box and it bites you on the ass.

Ryan Laplante was suitably outraged, and his friend Patrick (Egption) complained directly to Stars. He got a pretty weird (but apparently standard) response.

Of course it could be proven that there was essentially some other guy playing and thus the TOS being violated. Of course this practice is standard. Of course no one, least of all Stars, gives a ****.

Ghosting has always been accepted by Stars and has happened in way bigger tournaments than that one, including WCOOP main event FTs.

its funny they say they cant tell if a player is being ghosted.

that a billion dollar poker site cant see massive variations in bet timing, bet size, aggression, agr on certain streets, preflop hand selection and what hands player 3b/4b and just compare that data to the previous 5-6 hours of play.

even a ****ing inbred chimp could do that in a small period of time. given the access to FULL statistics pokerstars has this could be done in 10 minutes.

pokerstars support just doesnt give a **** about cheating anymore, thats a FACT.

could you imagine at a casino a friend on the phone giving advice during a hand on how to play vs X player?

hilarious that the support claims that isnt cheating. lmao

Seeing differences in styles of play and proving that someone else told you what to do are very different.

Ah yes, every time there is a FT, every player must be hooked up to a live feed with video AND audio, and there will be pokerstars employees monitoring those feeds to hear if someone says something to the players. There will also be full video surveilance of each players room and all electornic devices in it so the person who's being ghosted isn't fed information through some other device. Easy.

The outrage about rules that are not enforceable needs to stop. Everyone uses charts, everyone does equity calcs, everyone gets ghosted. Accept it and move on, it's not something that can ever be policed.

+1

Combine this with an online poker catheter probe requirement to verify player DNA in real time and watch all the new business roll in.

I agree with the commentary by Loctus. We're at a very critical stage for both live and online real money peer-to-peer gaming as to what a general marketplace will tolerate in terms of customer monitoring, data collection, etc, imo.

So many silly replies here. How on earth can you "see" if someone gets ghosted?
If someone logs in to the players account its something different, but if a player is on the phone with a "friend" or "backer" or he is sitting next to Jungle or whomever.. don't think there is any problem with it as it happens daily.
I remember doing it with a poker friend from Canada a million years ago.... We both played the 45c games and talked on skype at the same time...No hand sharing... just talking about the hands going on at the time...

Same at our poker club in Glasgow..... There were 2 computers with poker sites up and running and 10 guys in the computer room... Obviously there was coaching/ghosting going on. Get over it... get friends.. play poker.... win!
And i challenge anyone to say they never did/done the same if given the opportunity

Ok. I would never do this as it’s scummy and cheating. I used to grind in the same room as someone . We had a rule never to discuss in game and we thought that was totally standard

Disgusting the usual comments on here, and as someone said this is why you don’t play online and I tell live players not to play online anymore and explain why.

Live players think online is rigged and they are right, just not in the way they think .

This type of thing happens all the time. It's impossible to prevent, so you just have to accept the fact that if you decide to play high stakes tournaments online, you're going to have to deal with this BS at final tables almost always.

I'm not defending the practice, I've just witnessed/heard about this exact thing so often. That's why I avoid high stakes online MTTs, stick to live cash/tourneys and Chinese cash game apps.
