And maybe it has gone well for him in cash games lately.
IMO he must have had backers when he played HSP, especially the $500k buyin show.

He gets his money by not ever buying shoes or undershirts. He has saved thousands and thousands by doing this.

All adolescent photoshops and horrendous one liners aside i seam to remember watching an interview with him within the last three months where he was some what scolding himself for his extravagant lifestyle.
He went on talking about how he had hired a personal coach(to what end's i assuredly dunno) to assist him with sleeping regulary.eating reg..as well as grinding x amount of hours a day.
He seriously looked like sombody who had just opened up one B&**h of a bank statment.
Not saying his busto by any means at all..but sounds like he might be reading 2+2 threads on BR managment..

Well, whether he does or doesn't shouldn't really matter since I doubt anyone would pay 20k to party with him....

Antonio actually sees money three different ways. There’s money he spends on parties and friends, and this is money he spends insanely lavishly. Then there’s “justice money,” money that, no matter how large or small, has to give good value. “Justice money” is why you’ll see Antonio cruising for a public parking space — all night long if need be — if he thinks what the private lots are charging is a gouge.

Finally there’s poker money — money that does nothing but play poker. This money is not money, not in Antonio’s mind. It’s the tools of his trade, and he no more thinks about the dollar cost of an individual chip than a carpenter thinks about the cost of the nails he’s driving. That carpenter’ll drive all the nails he needs to in order to do the job. Same with Antonio. Same with you, if you choose to.

Consider you chips to be the cost of doing business, nothing more and nothing less. You’ll free yourself from the fear of losing them, and then you can go win more.

But there are other fears besides the fear of losing money. There’s also the fear of looking silly, and this fear can brutalize a player’s play. That’s why AE preaches the gospel of:
good story. imo.

This. His Bread and butter is cash games, much like Ivey, Antonius, Benyamine, etc.

Lots of us fail to remember that live mid-stakes can be the money train. We've seen so much of durrrr and nosebleeds we sometimes forget all someone has to do is win 2,000 a day at 10-20 and earn 730k per year. And I'm sure he's playing in games bigger then that nobody knows about.

Mid stakes can be a money train, but I don't think your example is possible in the long run. $2000/day at 10-20NL, given you play 10 hrs everyday, is 20bb/hr. I don't think that win rate is sustainable long term.

Esandiari may make his cash selling furniture, sponsorships, or even handouts, but you gotta be smoking crack if you think he gets a dollar from cash games.

Puhleeze, name the vegas cash game he's beaten. What's his net loss on HSP? Has he regained pigment color since the televised AA disaster?

Yeah I'm sure you're very qualified to comment on how much he's won or lost in cash games in his life because you watched HSP.

Anyone that would know that posts in these forums has always said he's a very respected high stakes NL cash player, in some of the HSP threads and other threads where the subject came up.

1. I'm qualified to comment on *amir* esfandiari because I've played with him.
2. There's nothing to respect about his play. There is nothing at all intelligent, creative, or otherwise original about his play that even the most modest of winning poker players needs to respect.

Nearly 100% of the time in cash games, he plays comically tight granny poker that wouldn't stand a chance in the lowest limit games in LA.

I'd say that anyone who respects his game simply hasn't played him and/or is your typical groupie fan who is repeating spewed nonsense from previous posts giving him unearned kudos.

No way in hell that Esfandiari beats a single online pro. Amir is more than welcome to try and beat any game I'm in. Heck...he already has tried and failed.

Wow a little intense in your dislike of him buddy, lol what did he do to you?

Why do you keep calling him by his persian name as if to make fun of him or something? Do you also insist on calling Muhammad Ali Cassius all the time?
01-27-2010 , 05:19 AM
I'm sure Antonio does fine versus mid stake tourists in Vegas.

But does anyone remember the PAD Cash Game where he kept getting wrecked by Dwan? Now THAT was good TV.
01-27-2010 , 05:21 AM
idk but am I the only guy that liked his show?
