Patrik Antonious is one of the most prolific poker players with perhaps the most obscure story of origin.

I read (from various unverified internet articles) that he doesn't come from a wealthy family, that he played poker causally in his teens, worked odd low-paying dead end jobs then came to America to study. He then decided to take poker seriously and ran something like $200 into several millions in less than a year?

How does this happen? How does someone who had never read a poker book, never watched a single video, didn't read any articles or discuss anything poker related with anybody do it?

He stands in sharp contrast to just about every other poker player who made lots of money playing online poker, who generally come from well-off upper middle-class households and are extremely 'nerdy'.

He just developed a style that was ahead of his time. Pretty aggro, soul-read type style that worked well in all games from '05-'10. obv he stacked a ton of paper and now lives comfortably. The fact that he can still win 1 million per year at online poker is pretty sick (assuming that really is him playing).

I think its safe to say its him. Only plays nose bleed stakes mix and limit games, 2 tables max, his chat, and dis like for playing NLHE, and always winning.

Its not hard to fathom that hes still winning consistantly. He didnt take much time off after BF considering he lives in monaco and was already the 2nd biggest winner online and plays live in big games when he can get a seat like on TV cash games and the big game in vegas

There's been many rumors in the high-stakes community about how Antonius got a bankroll bigger than the GDP of Italy and Greece combined.

The most recurring one is, that while he was 15-18, him and his buddy "Pekka" used to rob Pizza hut and Domino's stores in Helsinki and accumulated a sum of about 100,000 EUR in less than 3 months. They also apparently ate an average of 4 Large pizza's per day each, stolen of course, this meant he didn't have to pay for any food. They decided to go a big gamble and bet all of the 100,000 EUR on a Counter Strike game where the finnish team "astralis" was playing. They had odds of 3:1, but of course, there was some behind the scenes stuff going on here, which made the bet a sure win. It was rumoured that astralis managed to use a wallhack at the LAN without nobody noticing. How they did this is still a mistery, and there was never any proof backing this up, but the CS high-stakes pro's all know this is true.

Now, with their 300,000 EUR, Patrick bought pieces of many people in the WSOP, and struck lucky by having pieces of Doug Lee. Rumor is he had a very high % of it and won some good monies, along with other smaller cashes. His bankroll was about 1 mirrion dorrars after this. This is when he started playing poker seriously, and the rest, is history.
