I never realized just how different my taste in music was from the average poker player until now. Wow does most of the **** you guys listen to suck imho (excluding the 90's hard rock/reggae/classic rock).... No offense obviously, it's just a matter of personal preference.

I've got a poker play-list that includes most of my musical library anyway. It's about 60% punk-rock 30% ska and 10% other/rock.

I'm VERY open minded when it comes to music. I like a lot of what is on your list, the thing is, I can't sit down at a bunch of tables and get into a good, calm, grinding rhythm listening to anything remotely 'hard'/loud. Some of the avant-garde stuff I listen to is a little unnerving for some I know, but helps me when grinding.

This isn't a thread about your favorite music, tho it is for some who can listen to anything while grinding, for me only a small sample of music works. That happens to be the more down-tempo, relaxing or hypnotizing-type electronic, or soothing guitar, etc. Good music is good music, and I'm 25 (imo) and did type all this

Depends on my mood. It went from a lot of classical to most recently a lot of Yngwie Malmsteen. Just picked up his new cd "Perpetual Flame" with Ripper Owens on vocals & have been digging that. Wish it had a better mix though as Ripper's vocals are too low. Very cool for getting you in a mood to PUSH!!!

Yeah, I just listed my poker music (which happens to be similar to what I normally listen to, but that can't be too surprising)... I'm kind of a monkey when playing poker so the double speed drums/simple guitar lines put me in the right mindset to play good poker. I actually like a fairly wide variety of music, but a lot of the stuff listed in this thread as good grinding music would send me into insta-tilt.

I tried playing while listening to a poker podcast today... it did not go well. Bart Hanson can go straight to hell imo.

Ironically even though I listen to "skate-punk" I've never been a skateboarder, and I usually wear nice button-up shirts and khakis. Total poseur obv...

It varies, but of late this has got to my favourite poker song. Brilliant video too.

Any type of talk-radio is just about impossible/useless to listen to. It's like trying to read a book and listen to someone tell you a story at the same time - you're going to miss out on both - reading a book and listening to the right music works because it adds to the atmosphere/background rather than trying to grab your attention. Same with poker.

Poker requires a lot of thinking and analyzing, and minimizing distractions is a big factor to someone playing good, but it's a fine line because the right music will put you in the perfect rhythm.

I actually do listen to Grindcore while playing. Also some Deathcore or old '80's Punk.
Some bands in rotation:
Aborted, Pig Destroyer, Despised Icon, Rotten Sound, Nasum, Napalm Death, Captain Cleanoff, Brutal Truth, Gadget, Soilent Green, Leng T'che etc.

I am suprised how many ppl listen to heavy/hardcore/punk while playing I thought I was the only one. Also suprised about the ammt of ppl that listen to electronic music as well.
