This next one is not a huge angle if angle at all but I will tell it since it's related and bothered me for too long.

Was playing PLO at Barcelona Casino and there was one professional player besides me. The rest of the table was really soft so we didn't bother to play much against each other. Until a hand where on the river I had a blocker for nut flush and decided to bet ~7k to a pot of 9k. He was in the tank for good 5 minutes and I was pretty nervous as this was already a huge pot relative to my bank roll back then.

Finally the guy said "I think I have to fold... Yeah, I have to fold". I didn't muck or anything but I guess my guard fell a little and he noticed it and tossed in a calling chip. I of course didn't agree with this call and a huge circus ensued. Half of the players were on my side, the other half I guess only heard the first half of his sentence. The dealer was on his side so the floor took his side too. I left the building and was so tilted about this for the rest of my trip lol.

Sorry this wasn't the worst angle ever but it's told now.

In some places it is, but I would certainly never take any action myself based on that.

I'm pretty sure that in most rooms it doesn't matter what the dealer said regarding something like that. Everything can change when a floor is called.

Years ago playing NL at the Vic in London I made the nut flush on the river so I bet out. This reg I was pretty friendly with at the time counts out the bet and pushes the chips very gently forward but only a very short distance. Of course the dealer had his head in the clouds and had seen none of this. I asked "is that a call?" Again the dealer did nothing and after a pause the reg looked very annoyed and folded. I had seen him do this before to a less experienced player who took his actions to be a call and then turn his hand over; when it turns out the bettor has the nuts the reg would just say, "I haven't called, I was just thinking about it!" but of course if he could beat the exposed hand he'd happily scoop in the pot. I think I read somewhere that Puggy Pearson used to do this move all the time.

Even further back in time in the mid-90s when the main cash game at the Vic was pot limit 7-card Stud there was a reg who, upon reaching showdown, would claim he had a better hand than his opponent. For instance, if you had a straight and said so he would say "flush" and quite often people would just muck without looking at their cards until it was too late; of course once their cards had hit the muck the pot was his. I saw him do this one time but his opponent was wise to it and asked to see his hand before he mucked his own "losing" hand - the reg just mumbled something about mis-reading his hand and mucked without showing and the pot went to the rightful winner. These stud games were all self-dealt games btw which is how this guy got away with this angle for a while.

The other angle that I once caught some guy doing to me, although I wouldn't call it the worst but maybe one of the most pathetic, was in an illegal card club in NYC; I was standing around waiting for a seat when this kid came up to me asking if I could change a green chip for some reds ($25 for $5 chips), as I was about to say "sure no problem" I noticed he was only holding four red chips in his hand so I told him he was short $5, he suddenly looked simultaneously really annoyed and sheepish and just scuttled off with his tail between his legs.

Very similar to the first angle (attempted cheating above), and also at The Vic in London, in about 2010:

This scumbag https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=77, I have no idea if he still plays, or is dead or alive, is HU to the flop with me, about £400 in the pot in £1/£2/£5 PLO, both of us with about £350 behind, I flop a straight on a one club, two heart board (I have no heart draw), I open shove, he calls, (neither of us open our cards), turn is a heart, he confidently says "flush", river is a brick.

I show my straight, he shows 2 pair with a back door flush draw in clubs.

This slimy w*****r was clearly trying to get me to muck.

Yes I know who you mean, I played a lot of hours alongside him ; I don't recall him ever being an angle shooter but he would tilt at the drop of a hat
