The big unanswered question about Daniel Tzvetkoff is whether he had any grasp of accounting, was totally deluded or just a crook. The Ipswich-raised internet genius has turned FBI informant and delivered international gaming industry kings into the hands of the US Department of Justice. Now no one knows his whereabouts. Colleen Ryan investigates.

^ ^ lol, didn't even realise the AFR had this linked today - actually typed it out. All for naught. Apologies to the mods as obviously I've breached posting rules.

As for the article - yes extremely interesting - thought I'd post it here for the benefit of those in the northern hemisphere unable to access it (though clearly you can!). This entire thing is a schmozzle though now I think its clear Tzvetkoff is much more to blame than most for what has transpired with online poker in the United States. It's clear he's made off with a significant amount of money owed to US based players, money that for the most part they will never see again.

Very good and interesting article. He really seems to be a scumbag. I'm assuming the "hole" in the payment processor of Full-Tilt was caused by this guy.

Dont you know on this forum we blame everything on Ray Bitar, Howard Lederer and for some reason they hate the sweet Annie Duke. OP, you can lead these horses to water but you can't make then drink.

JK about the sweet part.

Good read, although it says Isai Scheinberg was arrested on black friday but I'm pretty sure that is wrong.

Also, you realize how much trouble the UIGEA has caused and if a new law passes in the US to state online poker is legal, then isn't it just saying that the sites did something illegal to get around a law that was wrong in the first place?

It's also pretty interesting that Tzvetkoff's employees/people he worked with knew how reckless and out of control he was and didn't do anything about it.

The money always gets to their heads. I don't see how you can call this guy a genius when he got caught. The methods they were using weren't as sophisticated as they could have been. i think it's possible to do a combination of methods today that would solve all these problems.

1. No seizures

2. Fast payments

3. Scalable

4. Very cost effective

The answer is always there you just have to find it. I guess I'm going to go move overseas and run the only poker site that is able to pay people fast.

Did you finish reading the article? Because the exact opposite is true. The most interesting part was how some of his employees, specifically Sharron Pountney, a CFO he hired, actively refused his extravagant requests because she was professionally uncomfortable with them. She prevented him from chartering a private jet and "made" him fly coach when he was obviously insolvent. When he prepared his own statement of net worth stating that he was worth $88 Million, her calcs showed that he was worth "minus $12M" and told him to re-visit his calcs. And his Vegas based payday biz executives actively sabotaged him, essentially ratting him out to Isai / Stars.
