In the past 24 hours Jeff Gross, and now Jaime Staples have departed their way with Pokerstars. This makes no sense to me. They both claim they were still going to continue poker, so what would make them leave the worlds largest site? They have so much going for them.

Although they both claim"we left on good terms" that really doesnt mean anything, they are too classy to come out and say"Stars F'd me over" cuz that had to have happened in some degree, or they have a read bigger changes are coming that they dont want to be acociated anymore ?

What you guys think?

Most likely just not being paid enough.

I think contracts can end and not be renewed for simpler reasons other than betrayal or grand moral gestures.

Yes it did. Vicky left because they were going to be promoting the casino in the poker client, something they have been doing for a long time now.

Vicky didn’t even want the casino tab in the poker client.

But didn't she publicly say that she left for this very reason?
Makes no sense to leave in protest but keep it shut on social media.

My guess is either party or RIO reasons.

Has Staples given up poker completely then? As far as I'm aware, he was losing money at the tables, so without the sponsorship money, it's not viable for him to continue as a poker pro. Unless he's making a ton from Twitch subs and donations.

Two options:

- Stars reduced pro benefits to which other pro's agreed but Jaime and Jeff didn't think it was worth it anymore.

- Stars fired them but allowed them the graceful way out by letting them claim initiative.

Compared to other pro's I disagree. Lowest Twitch numbers and easily the worst players among them. Jaime lost status by miserably failing the 2nd propbet while hardly putting in effort and Jeff is an affiliate-fest promoting dozens of companies which hurts credibility.

Jaime doesn't really stream a whole lot these days anyway. Stars couldn't have been happy about sponsoring a Twitch steamer who rarely plays. Be interesting to see what he does now though. He'll have to either stream more or play more without the Stars money coming in. Kinda get the feeling he's not really into it anymore though.

If I remember correctly, she left after casino was announced, not before. Either way, she made it clear that she didn't want to promote a casino brand. Fair enough.

Third and most likely option: their contracts expired and Stars decided not to renew.

You're right, Vicky Coren is a class act and stood by her principles. Jaime, on the other hand...

I know, but that’s not the point.
Besides, you couldn’t hide the tab originally.

Its really not that complicated or part of some nefarious grand scheme.

Just marketing 101.

Paying streamers is just another form of advertising to acquire customers.

Player/new deposit acquisition costs is something all sites measure, manage, and constantly tweak.

The goal is to minimize the $$ spend while maximizing acquisition/deposits.

They spend more money on advertising with the highest ROI, and less or none on advertising with little or no ROI.

I think it a blessing in disguise for Jamie. The pro poker life doesn't suit him. He's been miserable at it for years.

He's a nice guy, so now I hope he has the good sense to get a real job and to leave poker behind.

And for the other guys out there depending on the Stars sponsorship money this should be a wake up call.

Stars are snakes and they cannot be trusted. It's time for them to start formulating their exit strategy too.

There’s one million bad things to say about Stars, but blaming a company for not renewing sponsorship deals is ridiculous.

If you sign a one (or multi) year deal with a company, there’s a chance one side is not interested in extending that contract when it is up. There are multiple examples of sponsored pros that sat their contract out and started complaining about Stars when they didn’t get extended. I don’t remember a single occurrence of Stars talking bad about a former sponsored pro even if they obviously just bit their time until their contract was up.
