Re: What is the worst poker collectable from the boom

A lot of today's players would have been blown away by the scale of 2006. Party Poker took 2000 players and put them all up at the MGM. Every qualifier got a suitcase delivered to their room, full of merchandise - daily 'survival packs' of Party branded Redbull, mints etc, half a dozen different shirts and Tshirts, caps, a backgammon set and even a Palm Pilot preprogrammed with the WSOP schedule for those with high enough VIP status.
The MGM casino was rammed with Party Poker players all in their gear (as you had to wear it when you played your event). Great days..

Admittedly it's close though.
I haven't heard Scott Fischman's name ages. Where is he now?

Last time I saw him he was looking very overweight on tv - was a few years ago though.

Had the white fluffy dog, the donkey and the fish/champagne KO pro FTP tshirts, still have the Donkey and Fish. Still wear them (behind closed doors)

Re: What is the worst poker collectable from the boom

I had had a team poster from ftp. All of them were in a locker room with chris ferguson being the focus while wearing a white bathrobe and flipflops. It was the cheapest thing in the store and all I could afford with my points. I cant find an image of this though :/

While I agree with the idea, PartyPoker had nowhere near 2,000 players at the 2006 WSOP. PokerStars (where I worked at the time) had 1,624; my contact at the Rio told me that we had more than twice the number of players as our nearest competitor, which I assume was PartyPoker.

In 2006 PokerStars online satellite qualifiers accounted for nearly 20% of the entire Main Event field, 18.5% to be precise (1624/8773). If not for UIGEA and other changes like no longer allowing 3rd party buyins, I'm confident the Main Event would have easily reached more than 10,000 entrants.

These days people are more interested in the money than the "prestige" of a bracelet. IMO
Rebuy events went away because floormen were pocketing rebuy money. Had nothing to do with the bracelets.

How come DN only mentioned that eliminating re-buy events was so ppl couldn't buy bracelts...was he covering for the floormen? or was he not in the know about that?

Lol@ the cube! If someone busted out the cube I would have to respect their raises!

Has anyone actually ever seen one of these in a game?

Re: What is the worst poker collectable from the boom

This is one of my favorites from either the 2007 or 2008 WSOP Main Event ...

Basically a mini torch that's 2 inches tall, and when you click the button it (amazingly still after 7 years) shows the old WSOP black and white poker chips logo.

This just isn't true. While that did happen in binion days, it wasn't why WSOP at rio got rid of it.

They made zero money off the rebuys as juice and now everyone is deep stacked in a long tourney. They'd rather have a 1k or 1500 and rape the juice than a 3 day rebuy tourney. It's all about money

That Men "the master" bobblehead looks nothing like him. They nailed PH though.

Re: What is the worst poker collectable from the boom

The most amazing poker collectibles all in one place:

Can a mod blurr out the address on the box at the end of the video? "To the children of Vietnam"

I also can't get over how much greater of a grasp he has on placing 10 year old poker photos at random tournaments vs naming his own children.
