I really recognize the feeling you described OP.
For example, when I see these sheep saying "Bling blang blaow", trying to show how much they are part of the poker scene, I just want to throw up.
Maybe I am just too old, for the pokerscene.

poker on tv is the problem.

it's presented like some stupid segment of "sports entertainment".

not everyone is like that. it's just that for whatever reason, the teams who produce these shows are convinced that's what people want. so that's what we get.

The "Pokerscene", esp. Onlinepoker has just become another Nerdsociety, comparable to WoW, WC3, or MTG.

This might bring some benefits, but the drawbacks are obvious.
