Both absolute legends but they do fit part of the stereotype.

Obviously Yorkshire is a very big and diverse area and my instinct is that the stereotype
is becoming more diluted and less prevalent as time moves on.

My favourite Yorkshire phrase is "tintintin" (It isn't in the tin)
Your favourite Yorkshire phrase is one made up by a comedian.
Geoff Boycott is a wife beater and Brian Clough is from Middlesbrough. Strictly speaking it's in Yorkshire, but it's really not.

*Sporting* legends. Brian Clough was rumoured to have been dishonest in the transfer market but he's still a football legend.

Tintintin is a joke, but a true story is a Yorkshireman I worked with in data entry said "I haven't got an 'at". I genuinely answered, "why would you need a hat indoors?". He replied, "no, not an 'at, an at", "I haven't got an @ on my keyboard".

Back to John Hesp: his age and perhaps parts of the stereotypical Yorkshireman mentality probably explains why he's still working aged 64 and not taking it easy or playing more poker.

Unsurprising the BBC take the "omg he won millions and still plays £10 poker games in his local pub" line given they can't mention Jamie Vardy without the phrase 'non-league' in the same sentence.
