Hello everybody.

I was wondering here, what makes a tournament so special and part of the Highroller scene.

The old live mtts like main events of WSOP used to be the highest buy-in tournaments out there. 10k's where very strong back in the day, right now things changed, in part because of inflation, in part because of poker boom.

But i really want to know from community.

All live poker tournaments with 25k+ buy-ins are considered Highroller for you?

And about online poker? 5k+

Personally, i don't like to put Main Events in this same level. And I believe events with 200 players or more are not part of this scene.

But I totally opened to listen what you guys think about it.


I'm about to improve and old Highroller project here, and there is no better way to know the poker community opinion than asking.

I would say anything with a bigger buy-in than the WSOP main event is a high roller, and anything with a smaller buy-in isn't - so anything above 10k would make sense for what classifies as a 'high roller' event

The percentage of Germans and lack of recs defines a high roller.

i've seen super high rollers out there.

Any tourney where Christoph Vogelsang is playing with a tea towel around his face is a high roller for me.

When 90% of them are not playing their own money

A high roller tournament is like a war: It´s not the same without the Germans.Difference is that in poker, sometimes the Germans win.
