well I wouldn't say it if it wasn't the truth. We all have our own side to any story but I know what happened. I just didnt have the tech know how to actually get all of my hand histories and show how it happened. My knowledge of who is involved in the whole UB travesty is cursory. BUt I know that Russ is front and center, and I am not afraid to call Freddie out for his part in it with me. Did he do it with others? who knows, but I am 100% confident he did it with me.

Part of what sucks is that I have played a ton with him live, for years and I always liked him, except for the fact he will shoot any angle he can get away with.

I would put up a gif of the fat kid singing haters gonna hate, but I dont know how, nor do I feel like taking more than a second to even acknowledge this, but all you need to know, is that everything has a reason. Being cheated isnt the entire cause, but it is what is known as the proximate cause. I am far from delusional. End of my addressing douchebags.

I agree BR management was not my forte. But I was fairly wealthy from real estate and my non poker endeavors as well. So basically I just treated my poker money with very little respect.

The big issue is that loss came the day after I told my daughter I was going to finish our yard, and her horse barn etc and was not able to do what I said I was going to do. In my house, not coming through when you said you were going to was a mortal sin. So I lost 300k in poker but about 3 million in a divorce. None of which would have happened if certain cheaters hadn't cheated. Nice little domino/butterfly effect.

I saw this 'Dreamcrusher' on an old WSOP Main Event in 06 on ESPN. He was on an episode sitting on a table with Hellmuth. To come off as a bigger douche than Hellmuth is quite a task, but Randy managed it just fine. Always had a comment about everything that went on, including berating the guy's call that knocked him out when the guy called with something like top pair top kicker on the flop (when he himself made a pretty bad shove on the flop).

From what I remember he played pretty bad too...like really bad. Maybe no limit was not his strongest game i dunno.

Randy, if you lost in poker and were cheated 300k that is unjust. That shouldn't happen. But recognize that you are the person who put the money on the table. Everyone here thinks poker is a game of skill but that for any given session it can be all luck. So by putting that money in a position to be squandered, you made a bad choice that contributed to your marriage dissolving. If Deeb and Hamilton cheated, they wronged you. They have nothing to do with your marriage not working.

I'm married and if my wife was sitting down in a poker game and putting 1/10 of our net worth on the table, it wouldn't matter if she was Phil Ivey I would put a stop to it immediately. No one in their right mind would be married to someone who does this.

who are the people in this thread saying this is normal? Btw, I'm not holier than anyone. I've made tons of mistakes, and will continue to. But it's just dumb to gamble away $300k, and then blame the poker players who allegedly stole your money for your divorce. If you're Bill Gates or Guy Laliberte, fine because it is a drop in the bucket. But I don't think having more than 1/100 of your net worth not he table is at all sensible, and even that is a lot (a person worth $1million sitting with 10k in front of him).

I'm pretty sure there were a lot of other issues that contributed to their divorce besides this 300K loss.

It was probably just the main issue that came up repeatedly in arguments and was of tantamount importance in every discussion. I envision many of the arguments that might arise involving in some form or another the phrase '...it's just like when you lost the barn money gambling in poker' etc.
op, I feel for u. Despite my situation being much less severe, I basically went through an extremely similar situation with a gf I was living with at one time and very into. There were a number of other factors that came into play but that was certainly the largest issue. I also suffered some legal trouble and with a dui cant drive liberally either. It was by far the most humbling period of my life but at the same time the best possible thing that could have happened to me. It made me a better person and I've since returned to the game successfully. I don't have anywhere near as much $ as I had at my high point, but I'm completely fine and no longer suffer the stresses I subjected myself to before. Just keep grinding and you'll eventually get back on it. Poker has changed a lot but there are always new players and bad regs who don't plug their leaks or adjust to the times.

Oh ya, and more regarding the Freddy debacle. Though I didn't necessarily ever think of him as a cheater so much, he has def always come across (*to me, imo, etc) as a huge dbag. Someone should link him to this thread and the accusations, not that they're in any way all that surprising. Someone scamming someone in poker seems pretty standard these days / always.

DeWald - that's the episode I was talking about. Did not realise until now that it was Brian Rast at the table. That was actually a good line by Jensen, everything else he said was just massively douchey.
