Remember taking a shot at stars $3/6 NL when $3/6 NL was the biggest game on stars - then getting KK to Randys AA and losing the then biggest pot of my life. Funny to look back now but at the time it hurt bad! Hope you turn it around Randy, and sorry to hear about the UB story.

I posted this but I also feel like I need to sort of refute myself.

I would also like to point out (maybe in as delicate a way as possible), that I think there is at least a small chance that Randy remembered what I remembered and decided to use this as his excuse for going broke to garner sympathy and maybe get staked etc.

Seems kinda far fetched I know, but I know someone he has owed money for a lot longer than his timeline suggests, and if he had 300k to lose in one session (whether or not it was his whole bankroll ), he shouldn't have had such a hard time paying this loan back.

I am fairly cynical, but damn...that scenario is not even close. I have never been staked in any game or for any tourny that I have played. It does drive me crazy to see people all the time who have no results and no ability to run up large sums getting staked left and right. I WISH I could get staked. BUt being out of the scene for a few years leaves me with very little chance of that.

I would love to know who I allegedly owe money to. Because the debts that I have ever had were always paid back in a VERY short amount of time, save 2 individual debts. I owed J Dags a chunk from an online transfer, and paid him back at the wsop, but to be honest I may not have gotten him completely taken care of. I honestly dont know. When dealing with the amounts of money I dealt with it may have slipped my mind. If he came to me and said I owed him any amount under 5K and I had it, I would give it to him just off his word.

The only debt I owe is to a certain centimillionaire that I have not seen in about 3-4 years. I owe him 14k from a chinese game. I believe he knows I will pay him as soon as I have the money and he doesnt sweat it at all.

So I would love it if you let me know who I owe this money to. It would be news to me. And if anyone wants to collect about 30k in uncollected debt I have out there I am wiling to pay them 15 cents on the dollar for the pleasure.

I always assumed Jensen was a fish who happened to lagtard his way to a couple of decent tournament finishes.

Of course, during the '30-'04 boom that's all that was needed for Superstar status.
I remember that hand so perfectly. He and I have a long history, and we are very friendly. I simply put him on a play, and slammed back at him. Guess what, he had the goods. But it still felt so crappy that I gave it to him...blah!!!!

Well thanks for not getting offended by my words.

I did assume there was some meta-game involved in the hand.

Best of luck in your poker (and life) comeback.

read my post.... I have 6 driving under restraints. Far too many. I dont lie about stuff. My problem is I am far too transparent, and give far more info than I should. But thats me. What possible reason do I have to lie.

I dont have hand histories but I know that a lot of other hands were played with Trambopaline (?) maybe he would have hand histories.

My screen names were Theriptide, TayNJade, on UB and I might have had a dreamcrusher sn on there as well, I can't really remember.

I agree with the previous poster, it should be addressed - in fact at this point there are probably other "big name" pros that participated in this crap. I swear, everytime I think all the negative stuff is going away there is another allegation of more cheating, colluding, etc... Russ Hamilton is the pariah but there's probably a dozen others laughing themselves to sleep each night because they never got caught themselves.

WILL THIS **** EVER END???
I think it is worth pointing out, even if it's obvious to some, that everyone deeply involved in poker before the boom should be viewed with a certain amount of suspicion. While there are some good people who were playing for a living before the boom, it is worth emphasizing that high stakes gambling was considered pretty much an anti-social behavior before the boom. So the people who voluntarily got into that world when it was truly an underworld are going to be like 95X more likely to be scumbags than someone who picked up the game after the boom and resulting ESPN coverage gave it some social credibility.

Just read the bios of the players who were established poker players before the boom and contrast them to the final table of this years main event. It is quite a contrast of personal histories with lazy hustlers on one side and graduate degree carrying professionals on the other.

GREAT POINT!!!!

I've heard rumors over the years that back in the 70's & 80's, Doyle & Chip would be cheating together in cash games against rich tourists, businessmen etc...

Sigh... I guess really nothing I hear anymore surprises me because as we all know, you don't need references, the ability to pass a drug test or a background check to be a poker player. If those were requirements the poker rooms would mostly be empty, lol.

sorry that I said there was a small chance that may be your intentions, but if you've lurked the site, you would know that people will give money to just about anyone around here so I thought it should be mentioned.

As far as who you owe money to, it isn't someone you haven't mentioned although I thought I remembered hearing about collection efforts, but it has been years so its possible I could have misremembered that part.

And to be fair to you, I should point out that I am not saying it isn't likely you got taken by Russ and Deeb for a bunch on UB. If it was somehow possible to be shown you lost that much in a short period of time on UB, I would be the first one to say it was likely.

Randy at least somebody is having a blast with the money he stole from you.

Todd Brunson ‏@ToddBrunson
Just heard russ hamilton is having a poker, golf and hearts tournament in aruba next week. He's adding 50k to the prize pool, great value!!!

Just looked back at Randy's tourney results and looking at the names of the people in the money is depressing. It's either people you never heard of or live pros like Matusow and Eskimo Clark that are broke now.

The guy is a friend of Kill Phill writer Blair Rodman. In the book it basically say to overbet with AA and not fold because you want to put pressure on the pros as they dont want to play big pots preflop.

i'm sure most of the old school road gamblers cheated. in another thread with history of poker you see armariilo slim deal himself quad kings.

when chip became a christian he stopped cheating. in a pokercast with his good friend danny robison, danny recalls a story about the two of them playing for big money golf against a mob guy. danny wanted to cheat but chip wouldn't let him.

Randy, you have very solid results when you were playing and a lot of people still remember you(which is a good thing).

Believe me, with your results and numerous tv appearances - how can you NOT find someone to stake you????? Did you really burn that many bridges while you were playing????

I just pray I run into Russ sometime once I am back in the mix.

not to be a dick, but if dropping 300K was that momentous a setback, it wasnt being cheated by Russ and Freddie that cost you everything, it was your crappy bankroll management.
