I f I was an outsider I would say go get that job haha. But in reality we all have certain skills. My 2 biggest moneymaking skills are poker and real estate. Both which happen to require money to make money. But I do agree that being stuck in the past is an incredibly counterproductive way to be. The best you can do is to try to really learn from your mistakes and not be so completely undisciplined as to make them again.

Yes, I had a lot of banter with Barry in that match. Everything about the charity was done in clear good spirit and he knew it. His strategy was to be stone quiet, and it worked for him, but not quite the way he meant for it to. I had reacted to the audiences boredom when we were heads up because for about 20 hands there was zero action. Someone yelled from the audience to get it going, and make it interesting. I was stupid enough to be the one to try to entertain. I announced I was only playing one card , raised, he called. I hit my pair and did a little dumbarsed all in move, he had hit top pair and called. It was then all over.

But he has admitted to other people that I know that I had outplayed him the majority of the time. He gave me fair credit. But my apparent desire for public approval bit me on the butt and he won the tournament fair and square.

We have since played in a fair amount of cash games and I have a great story that I will save for another time......but his fear of me getting money ended up busting me!

My family was my biggest strength. As long as they were there I always played well and had focus. That tourny was in Monte Carlo and I loved having them there. Since it wasnt in a casino they were able to be right close whenever they wanted to be.

Super funny (in my opinion) story:
In the video you see me talking to my daughter at the table. She asked what I was doing and I announce that I was getting ready to bust someone. I decide to let her pick out who was gonna get busted. She looks around and points at one of my best poker friends, Paul Phillips, who was sitting directly to my left. Bust him she says. Oh no she didnt! Paul blanches, says why me, everyone else laughs hysterically. Needless to say, the next hand who busts who??? As Paul is packing up all I can do is apologize to him and tell him he better watch out for the ladies..he obviously has something that they dont like. It was quite hilarious.

Sadly, I have zero relationship with the ex, and have not seen my kids for nearly 3 years. She really went crazy and vindictive,and hit me in the one area that matters. Since money didn't matter to me, she went after the kids. I am still trying to get them back. It is an extreme process if you do anything wrong. I did.

Highest net worth...about 3.5 million all self made. She took it all. But when we split it was only about a mill. But she did steal a few of my companies, one alone that made 40k a month part time. That hurt!

So my goal is to get back the money I have lost and get my kids back. Then life will be back to sweetness. And Have my new twins come out healthy. Thats the important thing.

Paul quit poker, went into competitive scrabble, got bored with that, married and had 2 kids, and is currently doing something with programming computer stuff. I havent talked to him for about 3 years. He was one of my best POKER friends, and a real good guy. I give him credit as being one of the 3 smartest guys that I have known.

How could she possibly justify this to a judge? For this to be the case she had to say you did something reprehensible or you didnt show up to court. This is terrible. Have you fought this tooth and nail or what. Cant believe she would let this happen unless there is something horrible that has happened that isnt being told. Either way, she should feel worse than you for this because even if you dont want to see them (which i doubt) she should want them to have some relationship with you. What a bitch either way.

Wow. I haven't been on the forums in a year or two. No one is curious when a guy named scott tom posts about ub? Did i miss a big thread somewhere?

I have gone through scott toms posts and he has made several Comments on ub. No one seems to recognize the name. Scott tom was one of the founders of absolute poker. He seems to keep trying to give information an no one is remotely interested. I have never seen thomas keller's name come up or an insider openly talk about annie duke and phil gordon as scott has in other threads. Deserves its on thread if this is the real scott tom. Can a mod check on this ?

The WPT event that Randy took 2nd in was Season 2 Jack Binion World Poker Open. I have the 2nd season DVD set and watched them all a few months ago, and I must say that some of the plays Randy made were the most absurd, bad and hilarious of the season. Cant remember the exact HHs, but theyre definitely worth a watch.

In Boston the median household annual income is about 55K. The median family income gets up around 65-70K (not all households are families). Even with only a single income, and 5 family members, 150K is still very far from the median (in a statistical sense), and sufficiently far that one could easily argue that it borders on "rich". With 250K there should be no debate. Sure one can be "rich" in some yoga-life sense without any money at all, but if by rich one means someone that has much more money than average, and "much" is measured by counting standard deviations or something of that nature, it seems hard to argue that an individual annual income of 250K is not "rich" in the US.

My comment is not intended as a judgment. I've got no problem with folks who happen to be rich (unless they are also *******s), but it drives me nuts that there are so many folks who make 250K annually and insist that they are not "rich" because only Warren Buffett and Carlos Slim are rich. These folks tend not to realize that their frame of reference - that which determines their notion of "relative" - is badly biased.

Boston costs nearly 50% more to live in compared to the national average.

US median income is running around $50 k for a household so you would need $75 to maintain the same standard of living as everyone else.

People have a funny definition of rich. If it means more than average then half the country is rich. 150k may make you well off to a degree assuming you aren't leveraged to the hilt but rich? Not to me.

You aren't in the top 1% nor even top 2%. You certainly aren't set for life by any means and if your kids all attend college 150k is nothing. That could set you back a few hundred thousand.

I have a problem when someone accuses people of cheating when they have no evidence to back their claims. As long you have no evidence to back your claims you have no right to accuse someone of cheating because you had a gut feeling you were being cheated but still no evidence to back your claims. In my eyes, not guilty until proven guilty.
