2) Jerry Yang playing stupidely aggressive and winning. Obviously one of the luckiest ME champs ever and definitely the luckiest in the last decade. Yes, even luckier than Gold.
Stupidely? He did exactly what you do at the end of a tourney with chips. Put pressure and bully. He didn't get nearly as lucky as Gold and played a pretty good damn tourney.
Worst WSOP ME FT blowup ever (didn't see all the FTs, but saw a lot of them). The way he kept calling Yang's huge pf raises oop with marginal hands was atrocious.
Talking about this FT years later you could tell who watched the ESPN highlights and who watched the the internet video stream live. Yang running over the table was one of the more enjoyable FTs ever. You had three guys who were willing to crash and burn for first and six others getting steamrolled hoping to climb the pay scale.
Yup he crushed that FT and it was great to watch.. even for Jamie Gold he got into the head of his opponents and also crushed them too. Just because these guys havent had impressive results since, doesnt mean that they didnt crush their opponents when they had to. Of course they got lucky getting there in the first place, but if nobody with inferior overall skill could ever get lucky then we should just hand main event trophies every year to Phil Ivey or something.. thats what tournaments are for in the first place, so certain people can get lucky, and some luckier than others and then use some skill to crush other lucky players to win the biggest prize.
