Ben Affleck.... He won the 10k California State Poker Championship, Ben Affleck Poker Champion 2004. WTF happened to him after that? he is super rich! With an unlimited bank roll and some skills, he could of made a name for himself in poker! He sure isn't doing any movies lately....

Sorry, any good movies! I have never even heard of these pieces of !@#t movies.

B Movie Actor or Poker superstar? what would you want to do?
08-08-2009 , 05:55 PM
theres more value for him in making movies, imo

don't need to deal with downswings just get paid +20$mio every movie

you do the math!
08-08-2009 , 05:55 PM
IDK, maybe because poker is a huge stupid ****ing waste of time and energy unless you are doing it professionally?

But at least you get to spend lots of time with smelly morons when you DO play.

He also happened to get married and have a kid between then and now, but of course I can't see how that would ever factor into it.

lol at Ben Affleck getting 20 mil to do a movie. He is not even close to the movie star he once was, he would be lucky to get a supporting role in any big budget movie. Hollywood is done with Ben!

and to the wife and kids.... I have a wife and kid, I treat poker as a job, the same as anyone else treats there job. You work and you spend time with the family! If anything... Poker would give him more time with his family instead of being at a studio or filming far away from home for months at a time

don't **** the point

doing a movie once in a while -> enough to **** the belle of the ball

You people do realize he's trying to focus more on being behind the camera, right? Did *nobody* here see Gone Baby Gone?

Dammit, I refuse to be the Affleck apologist in this thread, but he has done some half decent stuff lately. (Besides Jennifer Garner, that is.)

I saw gone baby gone and kinda liked it which is more than I can say for any acting role Ben Affleck has ever done. A big LoL at anyone thinking being a poker pro is better than being a B movie actor in hollywood. The lives of 99% of poker players sucks balls.

I'll fall for the troll. Affleck should've gotten Oscar noms for Picture, Director & Adapted Screenplay for GBG, and for SuppActor for Hollywoodland. When he hit the lotto with his co-creation GWH he went through lots of Hollywood biatches and groupies, made unspendable bank from a variety of big-budget garbage, plus had good roles & cameos in smaller, better fare like Boiler Room, Dogma & Rounders.

He proactively went to rehab before any public embarrasment, then tore up JLo's thick azz at it's physical peak on his sobriety high until he tired of the drama and married a low-maintenance hottie who seems to be a much better personality match. They have two small kids and live quietly way out of the spotlight. Tabloids seem to treat them almost as afterthoughts now.

Other than Pitt, DiCaprio, maybe a couple others, Affleck milked about as much money & sex out of Hollywood as one can, then got out just in time. He was always able to laugh at himself and the caricature he became, and Hollywoodland & GBG gave him his credibility back, prolly much higher than before.

And whatta ya know, he even had a pretty good score at teh pokerz.

One of his next projects, The Town, is based on the book Prince Of Thieves and will star Jon Hamm from Mad Men. If it's as good as GBG he will join the directors A-list. Affleck > life.

Maybe whenever he sits at a table some d-bag asks him, "Why'd you quit poker?," or "What's it like to be on the set with (fill in the blank)?," and other inane crap celeb-worshipers ask. I'd quit too.

oh u havent even seen or heard these movies that arent released yet?

Hollywoodland sucked and no way did he deserve an oscar nod for that, he's an awful actor imo. I was very surprised with GBG being as good as it was and props to him and his brothers performance which made the movie. I agree he pwns life but his acting skills are dog**** IMHO and he must be very smart and good with people that it got him as far as it did. Stick to directing and do some fun cameos.

I'm sure Affleck sits around all day moping as his crushed dreams of becoming a poker proffessional slowly eat him up inside.
08-08-2009 , 08:26 PM
Hmmmm lets see play in stinky commerce w degens or hang with Jennifer Garner

I vote for the 2nd option...
08-08-2009 , 08:54 PM
GWH was easily one of the best of the 90's
Dogma was top notch too
Affleck owns
