I recall Brian Hastings had 25% of Chad for the Main. Chad was selling at 1.5. Brian finished in the top 50 that year as well so nice score for him.

I'd estimate that Chad Power is one of the top 10 live cash game players in the state of Maryland. I've never played with him or met him or even been in the state of Maryland much less played at a casino there. I seriously doubt he is top 5 but how could he not be in the top 10...he's gotta be...probably like 8th.

He is absolutely not the top 10 in terms of skill but he is probably 10 ten winners

Anyone that can play is not going to give half there winnings for to long.

Hes no champion but he knows that and only plays in games that he knows he is a favorite in. That really limits his high stakes play these days because the games are pretty tough at that level.
he loses at 10/25 and above?

I agree 100% based on what I've seen of him on the 2015 WSOP coverage. At the end of the day, when I'm judging a cash game player, all that matters to me is earnings. Having sick skills and great reads and good patience is all fine and dandy but if you don't know how to run good then everything else is pointless.

What does a few picked hands of tournament play tell you about how a guy does in live cash games

Just finished playing with Chad. I asked him about the article. He said "It's whatever" and when asked what feedback he's gotten, "positive feedback from all my friends [something about haters in the comments section]"

What game were you playing? Can you even buy into 10/25 with $500? I think this article was a troll attempt

How kind of it was for Mr. Power to grace the 2/5 n00bz with his presence!

It's not every day that you get to play poker with a celebrity.

Mr. Power is a pretty big deal, and rightfully so. He's one of the 1% of the 1% of the 1% of poker players that actually figure out how to get rich off poker. He's in that upper tier of poker earners with 3 Phil's (Ivey, Hellmuth, Galfond), Dan Bilzerian, Daniel Negreanu, and not many other players that clear $800k/yr after expenses. Of course there will be lots of jealousy for him. That is human nature.

Got up this morning and happened to glance at the Washington Post Metro section. There on the front page is the Chad Power article, "A Shark Swims with the Whales." It is a word-for-word reprint of the article being discussed itt.

I don't know if this is common practice in the newspaper biz, but it seems extraordinarily lazy.

EDIT:

I just went back and looked at the article in the link at the beginning of this thread and they've actually updated the date on that on-line article to January 7. That link was posted on December 30. Time travelers itt.

I don't know why this bothers me so much, but if newspapers throw out integrity, what do they have left?

I believe that this is called "syndication."

I don't have much of an opinion tbh. I just posted it because I thought it was NVG worthy. It is interesting to me, however, that the same author wrote a very similar piece a few years ago with regards to Power and Maryland Live. I'm not saying that this is an advertising piece but you would be amazed nowadays how many magazine covers are paid sponsorship content made to look like actual news. The recycling of the type of news/dates is also questionable, from such a respected source such as the Washington Post. Does anyone know if the article came out in print last week or is today the first time it is appearing in the hard form of the newspaper?

Bart,

I saw the article in print in the Washington Post both times. When I saw it in this morning's Metro section, I did a double take. I thought to myself "Wow, these newspaper guys are really enamoured of Chad." As I started to read it, the words sounded very familiar to me, so I went back and found the original article from over a week ago. Word for word identical.

I've never heard of a major newspaper doing this, ever.
