View: Xuan Liu's great and should be sponsored - Poker News

Saw this new short documentary on Xuan Liu in Toronto and have to wonder why she's not sponsored by an online site. She's attractive, intelligent, successful at the poker, close friends with tons of big players, travels the circuit pretty much full time ... Seems like a great face for a site and a good person to attract mainstream players and women.

Just a matter of time or just no point sponsoring North American players?

Anyway, she's super cute in this video and seems like a genuine person.

Well, she is a pretty good looking female player who actually does well at poker. So yes, she's probably a pretty good option for any site to sponsor, and the only reason she isn't is probably the decline of poker in the past couple of years. Sites just don't simply sponsor very many players anymore. She definitely is the way irl she comes off in that video and if I were to start a site she'd definitely be someone I'd be looking to sponsor.

Any time u see a hot female poker player and think she should be sponsored picture that person as 250 lbs and hideous to look at. If she still deserves merit based on her results and/or personality than it's a go

Not currently. Stars adds/drops players all of the time, though, so it's hard to tell. Just in the past few years, there has been a pretty lengthy list of players who have been removed from the roster (Joe and Tony Hachem, Greg Raymer, Tom McEvoy, Veronica Dabul, Julian Thew, peachymer (did this story ever pan out?), Alex Gomes, Gualter Salles, Maridu Mayrinck, and the list goes on).

She's been seen with a Bodog/Bovada patch, but I think that was just for a big event. Bovada doesn't have sponsored pros--as most sites still open to US players don't.

Bodog markets to asian countires. Team Bodog does exist with sponsored pros. They usually go after asian women and good looking women. Evenlyn Ng, Liz Liu, Jay Tan, Tatjana... are some of past or current pros.

Xuan really would be a good fit... but she could probably land a real site if she holds out and keeps putting up results.

This. Poker has been decimated by the various forces against it. Governments have had a lot to do with killing the boom. Just look at this forum for example, it was always a good indicator of poker's popularity. This forum is absolutely dead compared to just a few years ago.

It's quite sad.

No argument there but there's a lot more to a successful sponsorship deal than crushing online. Watch that video linked in OP and tell me Xuan doesn't make online/live poker less intimidating and more inviting for rec players and women. The idea that if you're smart enough and work hard enough you can win at poker, combined with the freedom and opportunities around succeeding as a poker player are what will draw more players to the game. Xuan checks both of those boxes imo.
