They could combine Pokerstars' leadership and operational qualities with the roster of Full Tilt maintaining contracts with Pros along with the fresh, swift, and intelligent software.

I'll leave the discussion open from here - If this is a stupid topic, delete it.

Because acquiring their player pool is worth far less to them than it is to any entity that doesn't already have a large poker room. And to buy them, they'd have to bid against those other entities. And if no one buys them then they capture most of FTP's current traffic for free anyway.

This is just it. At the moment, Stars really have no reason to buy FTP, especially at its current price. As things have gone from bad to worse, the validity of any reasons to buy FTP has diminished.

As it is, most people will simply cash out on FTP and go play on Stars or elsewhere. They've little to gain and indeed as things continue to worsen, would actively want to disassociate themselves with anything to do with FTP (i.e pros).

I would expect Party and Stars to prosper going forward. FTP will struggle if it comes back.

Why the hell would they do that??? The longer FTP goes without being sold the more players PS will gain for free.

This is hilarious.

I agree, PS looks great, did right by most, why would they take FTs huge debt at the moment when they look to be falling apart?

No one will assume FT debt if they buy the company. However the database of players is the most valuable thing to most people looking to buy, and PS doesn't need it so it won't happen.

I would love it if PS could just buy the software, but that will not happen :/

I just dont see why people would buy full tilt at such a price now with no guarntee of players returning, have to admit i love their softare, the best out there by far, but it has lost so much respect that i think a massive chunk of the online community will never play their again.
I dont think pokerstars needs to do anything, there the big winner from this.

We might be overlooking a really obvious fact:

Stars just lost ~30% (I forgot what % was US players) of their customers for the next few years (or more). They might not be in the proper financial shape to take on a fairly large investment where alot of that investment will immediately be sent to customers who can't give them any money in the future.

Wow, I was expecting this thread to be from a month ago. Apparently someone decided to make the same thread that was made by at least 10 other people last month. Well played.

cause if full tilt closes up shop, they get their business anyway without having to pay anything.

Hey, I heard FTP lost their gaming license and shut down all their games last week. How long do you think it takes for PS to sign up all non-U.S.-former-FTP players? Go figure.

This, bearing in mind that they probably already have a decent portion of the FTP player base. The majority of ayone who is/was a frequent player probably had accounts with both FTP and PS already, even if they played on one site more than the other.

For the players, the last thing we should want is one monster site dwarfing everyone else, a monopoly (or near-monopoly) is bad for the consumers. As much as I love PS, I hope that there will continue to be a realistic challenger to it.

I play just on stars now, i'd like to have a go at rush poker, sounds very good from what i hear, so i'd like them to buy the software FT would never let me join due to ID disputes, which i'm not too bothered about now.

Why shouldn't 'Stars be like that guy in Seven Beauties, and dive head first into a pool of old, raw sewage?
