Why are they twisting themselves into a pretzel? If there are things that make it hard, then let's talk and think about them.

There's enough anecdotal evidence ITT that current setups are deterring lots of players. It's possible that alternative setups would deter even more, but also possible that they can be greatly improved.

Also, what a weird sentiment to seem to want *fewer* random rich guys to be able to participate in poker tournaments.

Re: View: Tournament scheduling is bad

Almost every time I've ever looked at a schedule for a live tournament series to see if there is something I might want to go play I cannot understand why there are no 2 day $500+ events on the weekend (Saturday-Sunday). I often see them scheduled for Friday-Saturday or Sunday-Monday and I don't get why they can't be scheduled just on the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) when most people are off from work. And then I don't go because I don't want to take off from work on Friday or Monday for it.

Re: View: Tournament scheduling is bad

Looking at schedules usually give me a headache. I've been begging WSOP and the circuit for years to optimize their stuff, they rarely get it right. It drives me crazy the most when they have a big restart at noon but start the new days tournamenr at 11am or something dumb like that.

Borgata does 1A/1B on Sunday/Monday because the hotel rates for poker players on Friday/Saturday are too expensive (250+) and the poker department doesn't have much control over that.

I don't think it is good for poker rooms to cater too much towards people whose only gambling is poker tournaments. Those players are not as valuable as people who also play cash games or slots or pit games.
The next time I see a tournament series doing big numbers, and then see slower than usual cash games alongside it, will be the first.

Completely agree with all of this, live in NYC and have the same issues. Foxwoods and Parx are relatively good about it but I never play the Borgata WPT mains etc because of the scheduling.

Eh? If that's strikes you as braggadocio, then you must be projecting.

Not everyone knows who he is, particularly those who joined more recently. Besides, even if it was... this is a section of the forum where people's opinions are not held in high regard unless their post count is sufficient or their graphs trend upwards. So providing a few credentials serves as a reminder that he knows of what he opines, while the nature of his job prevents all of the idiotic "your job sucks if you can't get that Monday off" posts that we saw in another recent thread.

Thus, not at all "irrelevant." Completely reasonable, in my opinion.

agree on all above re: borgata - would play every main if it was scheduled differently.
