Just freestyling here but ima go in real quick... lets get it baby 406 squad stand up...

1) RTA is being halted in its tracks by solutions like Fair Play from GTO Wizard. Due to business competition we can count on a lot more companies to take similar actions to maintain the integrity of the game and keep up with what the popularity of GTO Wizard is helping usher in

2) US players have multiple options (Ignition, ACR, etc.) which can all safely use a credit card without the info getting stolen. Some states even have their own state specific platforms which are booming, and trade deals to allow for legal interconnected play are in the works with multiple senators taking a keen interest in full legalization

3) Mainstream people are generally getting smarter and transitioning away from interest in thuggish meat sports into strategy, mind-over-matter online games like Dungeons and Dragons, Poker, and even League of Legends

4) The Poker Community itself is strong and united, with most of the well known names having clean records and strong track records of good ethics

5) From a moral standpoint, there's a new age of compassion and living well in the world, and poker is a far better vice than pure gambling, which we see the fruits of as more and more young people move over to playing poker. Most players absolutely play enough hands to move past variance and realize their edge based on the hours of study they've put in (chess comes to mind). With enough time the word "poker" will be decoupled from "gambling" entirely, and rightfully so. This overton window shift could turn a steady stream of success into a freshwater tsunami

6) Poker media right now is as good as it's ever been, with Hustler Casino Live taking over the WSOP on ESPN in terms of popularity and quality, and with other streams having such high entertainment value that it's almost becoming a matter of having too many options and trying to keep up with all of the interesting characters and complex lines they take as they execute their well thought out strategies

lol no this is not 2.0 boom no matter how many people start threads on it. online poker in 2023 is hot garbage. state specific platforms are not booming. there was a mini boom when covid hit which was still nothing compared to the actual boom.

RTA is also rampant online and going to get much worse as the computing power gets faster and faster. It's not being stopped in its tracks.

I assume this is complete sarcasm and you actually believe the opposite, but if not I thoroughly disagree with every point.

I strongly agree with every point.

Nowhere near as good as Poker Boom 1.0, but that was a once-in-history event.

Everyone who has been asking for another poker boom, I hope you are grinding hard right now, because this is the closest you're ever going to get.

Yooooo 406! What part of Montana are you from? I grew up in Bozeman and was a reg back around town while in high school when the pot cap was still $300. I actually had used a friend of mines ID when I was 15 and so I played for a few yrs under a different name haha. A few of the game runners were not happy when I told them my actual name after my 18th bday. I left for college in 2010 and havent played poker in the state since then but I heard they changed it to $800, right? Are there still games running at Paw etc? Whats the live scene like in Bozeman and/or across the state?

I am almost certain you were referring to Montana as 406 is the one area code for the whole state and its part of the marketing statewide but if you weren't my bad

I know this entire post is a troll but still going to reply to just this point. People are not getting smarter at all, IQ is decreasing in the US so by all metrics the population are getting more stupid. They are also getting physically weaker though, which explains the waning interest in sports.

Luckily for poker player, its better if stupid people are drawn to the game than intelligent ones.

Lol at people getting smarter. Sure that may be true for the most intelligent amongst us but overall people are getting fatter dumber and lazier. This talks about how the average Americans iq has tanked over the last 10 years. https://www.popularmechanics.com/sci...-flynn-effect/

Funny, I was at Barnes & Nobles on Saturday and I took a photo of the section where the poker books would be. There was one and another one that was a a "for dummies" book. During the boom this section was filled with all sorts of books. This is not a boom.

This is a shame. "Beat the Slots". lol. The Card Games Bible etc probably also contains some poker. So in fact there's 2.05 poker books on that shelf!

The only 2nd boom is if it gets legalized in the states and/or India and China.

Reminder that someone's opinion isn't trolling simply because you strongly disagree with it. I think poker is booming as much as it can given the circumstances.

True but if you read some of OPs other post you would understand why people assume it's a troll

LOL I was playing during the Poker Boom in 2004 2005 and 2006. Now is a joke compared to that. Even 2+2 is so slow now. Back then NVG always had minimum 1500-2000 viewing now usually 50-60 and at most 120 once in a while. Nobody even talks about poker anymore.

This is so true. Back in the Boom of mid 2000s Barnes and Noble had entire book cases full of poker strategy books. Now you go there and are lucky to find a few on one single shelf mixed together with casino game books.

Probably more to do with training content moving to digital formats vs print.

2002 i bought horse racing for dummies and took everything I learned to the tracks. But not the horse tracks. Greyhounds. I hit quinnellas and trifectas, but never hit the golden goose……the superfecta. If that book was not published in 2002 part of this is a lie. If it was its probably all true. Nothing worse than watching your trifecta about to hit and some 40-1 dog turns on the afterburners from a football field back to take third.

This. In a lot of locales today, it's nigh impossible to even find a bookstore.

Lol nice troll post, we aren’t in a poker boom just based on the rate of people calling for rounds of straddles and then not straddling when it’s their turn.

Unless we get global pools again, with no government interference, we won´t get a poker boom 2.0. Since Covid things got even worse, more segregated yet.
