You think that was a good play with AK?

In poker you have to go with your read. However, shoving with AK in that spot is much more of a cash game move than a tournament move imo. It wasn't really a bad move by Ivey, just a bad read in a spot where he's good so much of the time and, maybe, he was just ready to gamble. Oh well, next year.

I guess I'm more of a tournament player, a mediocre one probably, but I just don't see that being a good shove.

That will look bad on TV, but it's not that bad.

If he thinks he's up against A10, AJ, AQ, it's not a bad move because he might be chopping unless he can convince the original raiser he's got a lock. If he sensed (which he probably did) that the guy was making a move, then shoving there makes sense because why would the UTG raiser be betting into him knowing how aggressive Ivey is if he had a hand as good as JJ? If he checks behind there does Ivey ship the turn? It was not a cautious decision but not an irrational one. I think it's purely situational.

lame analogy... if you don't see value or enjoy watching Ivey, why join the sweat thread dedicated to him?

It's relevant too being a decent human being. I can see 12 year olds saying that about an +80 year old elderly couple.

Did Ivey really bust, not seeing the update yet either. edit: I see it now good run. Lol wtf now

I was standing in the hall as he made his exit and ****ing flew right by me. I've never seen him move so fast. lol

A few seconds later I saw a confused ESPN cameraman walk into the hall with his head on a swivel. Phil was already gone.

It's definitely not a cash game move. It's just a massive -EV move in general.

I will acquiesce that this is true, is spewy no matter if cash or tourney. It just seems like Phil thought the guy was making a move when he bet the turn and he thought he could get him to lay down something not as good as what he had. Meh, why am I defending this?

It's a strange bet, would ivey 3 bet an UTG raise with a 9 or 2 in his hand? Would ivey really re raise all in on the turn with qq kk or aa?

Still ivey might have had some sort of read or a better understanding of table dynamics. Im definitely not going to disagree with ivey, im sure it was the right play.
