So according to broke-ass internet posters, PI has been overtaken as the best.

How do the pros feel about this? You know, the people who play all the time, and actually interact with the contenders. Has their attitude changed?

I wonder if any number of people unfairly root against Phil Ivey, not because of him per se, but because they just don't want to read/hear Andrew Feldman repeatedly pepper ESPN with the never-gets-old line of "Some guy named Phil Ivey...", and HIS ranking system.

Surprised we haven't hear from that dick, Brilliant27 yet.

Then again, he searches his own name all the time so now I've mentioned him, he's bound to turn up in a minute...

Maybe his scores beat ivey lately but he is nowhere as good as gus.

Iveys bad run online still makes him the 2nd best online player, though if thinking his drop, one might rate him lower but one doesnt get that bad that fast, and his tournament results say he has mostly eye problems with the monitor. He has high ability at mixed games so he is scoring at tournaments. Nosebleeds dont run as often as they used to, and even normally running highest limits seem to have just marginal winners these days, and even that doesnt come easy, maybe counting out some smith who wins a couple of millions during some year. Some top players seem to be immune, as any year i have looked the scores, they have been scoring.

He might have lost $4.5m but how much has he won online over the years?

My only problem with Ivey is that he is a gambler. If he only focuses on Poker, he literally could be one of the richest people around.

I mean, he just won a bracelet and was chip leader of the main event on day 3 or 4. That means something.
so you're saying he shouldn't bother w BACCARAT or CHEMIN de FER ?

OP flames Micro PG&C threads and posts thread stating that he can't beat the Micros after years of trying.

Is now qualified to say that the second biggest online poker winner of all time won't be able to beat 2Knl in a few years. On the basis of a downswing and two televised hands.

Welcome to TwoPlusTwo

This wasn't the case 15 years ago, the players have absolutely improved.
The guy hardly plays any tournaments.

You are on to it man. Remember, any live poker player who can't beat high stakes online is a fish according to NVG and you'll fit right it.

I don't think it's possible to come to the conclusion of who clearly is the best overall poker player when you include all the different formats. I think you need to take all the big stake players from each game and just do a poll. If they were smart they'd vote for whoever was the biggest action player.

To comment about the other topic in the thread, i have a feeling limit hold em and 7 card stud are going to make a comeback in cash games. Tournaments are still going to be big pot games, for obvious reasons.

Possibly in the U.S, but have stud and limit hold em ever had any traction outside of the States? I don't know for sure TBH.
