For a so-called consummate professional, Garrett acts like a shitreg in so many ways. When he tanks it’s to indulge his emotional state, not to process his strategy. See the AQ vs Dwan JJ hand. His only tool, of speech play in order to get a “live read,” looks amateurish when deployed against mega-pros such as Ivey/Dwan.
It’s honestly sad that despite being a star in the context of live-streamed games, Garrett’s legend status is a fraction of that of Dwan, who had a legitimate impact on poker culture and its view in the mainstream. And considering the Garrett thinks of himself highly (ignore his false modesty), it must be an uncomfortable truth to live with.
