Couldn't have said it better. I know a lot of posters here really hate Tuck and we're all entitled to our opinions, but count me as a loyal fan who always looked forward to each year's WSOP coverage with him. I don't think he's quite as interesting when he's going it alone, although he's fairly knowledgeable. However, sharing the booth with co-commentators - many who are his personal friends - and especially top level players like Nick Schulman and Jason Mercier, is where I think he really shines. I especially like that he's always been humble enough to say on air that he really doesn't know much about certain games or aspects of poker, and then gets his guest experts to explain the finer points, for all of us to learn from.
Maybe I'll even spring for a 2 month Poker Go subscription this year, although I'm still not thrilled about the whole paywall thing, especially considering while slightly better this year, the huge lack of coverage from them. Maybe if the WSOP sees relatively large numbers of people watching the free streams and Poker Go subscriptions don't increase much or at all, they'll rethink the whole thing for next year.
I think Ali Nejad is ok, although sometimes he seemed to get a bit overly dramatic on the old Poker After Dark, which is the only place I know him from. Of course, with that show being 'produced', they could have instructed him to be that way more than it's his natural personality, whereas IMO Tuck probably has had a lot more freedom to just 'be himself' on the WSOP coverage.
On the other hand, as for Lon and Chad, if I never heard/saw them again for the rest of my life I'd be more than happy. Even after all these years of covering the Main Event, they still come across like a couple of know-nothing buffoons, and I doubt that will ever change. Nothing short of cringe worthy.
