View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
Annie Duke @RealAnnieDuke
"@themouthmatusow I get there Friday in fact. Playing a lot this year. See you this weekend."
--------------------------------------
I believe that a person who has openly lied to poker players in order to protect a company she represented about them stealing money from players, and who also started a fraudulently ran "poker league" should be banned from something like the WSOP.
Another view: WSOP Should have an "Ethic's Committee" that has the power to ban players such as Annie Duke, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, etc...
Thoughts?

Re: View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
Are they gonna ban US congressmen, senators, DOJ officials for harming the game so much? That would make more sense.

If she shows up either she doesn't care about what happened, or is a sociopath who doesn't think what she did was wrong.

This is the USA. Crooks are treated like heroes. Not only will they not ban, they will invite her into the announcing booth like they did with Hellmuth. Hard to believe she was on Celebrity Apprentice and nearly won.

Re: View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
Any sort of ethics committee would be totally ineffective or quickly turn into a bizzare witch hunt.
So they ban Annie Duke. Should they ban Chris Furgeson? Phil Ivey? Dutch Boyd? Should they ban Wesley Snipes? Kent Hovind? Kim Jong-Un? Any member of the KKK?
There are people in this world who have done far worse, defrauded far more, and are much more dangerous than Annie ****ing Duke, who would never get noticed or banned without someone "turning them in."
Do you really want the WSOP going through everyone's history to decide if they should ethically be allowed to play?
If you have the cash and you haven't done anything to violate the integrity of the game, you should be allowed to play. WSOP isn't law or morality enforcement.

Re: View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
The WSOP isn't a country club where you need the votes of the members to play.
Read some autobiographies and stories of players...they're a pretty disreputable group all round.
If we start banning people who don't fit our moral code then where will it end...banning Bush for going into Iraq...but maybe he wouldn't want to play poker anyway.

Bolded = Key.
She clearly has.
Also if it comes to light that lederer/ferguson/etc had knowledge of what was going on, and were a part of it, they should be banned imo.
If they are knowingly willing to run companies that steal from the poker community, and have done things to violate the integrity of the game, why shouldn't they receive bans?
It could be a multi-step process:
Step 1: Ethics committee (picked by players and wsop staff) votes on to have player "Annie D." investigated.
Step 2: Investigation team (voted on by the committee) looks into their history and come up with damning evidence that said player has used poker to wrong players in a fraudulent manner and have "violated the integrity of the game".
Step 3: A jury of wsop staff, and people voted on by the committee, who are unbiased, look at the information presented to them, and deliberate as to whether or not "Annie D." deserves to be banned and if so for how long/ until what conditions are met.
IMO it could be an easy to implement program, transparently done and it would help protect the community.

Results oriented thinking imo.
Just because something is poorly implemented and ends up being useless, doesn't mean that all possibilities of it will be bad as well.

Re: View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
People that violate the integrity of this fragile game should be banned. In any other sport-(not just team games... but golf, tennis, darts and the like), if they bring disrepute to their sport, they are banned. Annie Duke, Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Chino Rheem, Erick Lindgren, are 5 individuals who should NOT be allowed in this year's WSOP under any circumstances.

+1 to banning duke and the bigger ftp figures. Theres a very select group of players which have done enough shady **** to warrant a ban until theyve made things right, particularly those who have stolen millions from the poker community

Poker and ethics lol. You clearly know nothing about the background of the main people who started the WSOP.

Re: View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
You know you people are ridiculous. You're always looking for someone to blame. It's the players fault they represented the company! They had nothing to do with the company's policies. It's obvious who is at fault here. 8 months or so later the doj reversed their opinion on the wire act. It's obvious they just made a move to move out the big companies so the American corps could then move in. How you people don't see this is amazing. You're supposed to be able to read people and situations. I'm just glad you all still play poker, because obviously you have no idea what is going on. If you want to blame anybody, blame the crooked politicians and corporations who set this thing in motion in the first place. Stop blaming poker players who represented full tilt. It's not going to get your money back and it's not going to accomplish anything.
As previously stated, if you start banning players from playing on moral grounds, we wouldn't have anybody else left to play. Poker is a game of deception. I find it amazing most of you still have money left to play.

Re: View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
It's really just the general sentiment towards well known pros in this forum, not so much Annie Duke in general. For playing a game that requires so much control, a lot of you seem to not know how to control your emotions at all.

Re: View: Annie Duke Should be banned from WSOP
I have no use for Annie Duke or the scum like Lederer and Fergouson and FTP crew.
I don't think you will see the latter 2 any time soon at a WSOP event but I could be mistaken, since there is probably a lynch mob waiting for them.
While you are at it OP why don't you call for a ban of anyone who was involved in playing at UB/AP and FTP. That should cut the field in half.
Basically what I am saying is if you ban a Poker Player for one indiscretion or another. No one is left to play.

Don't ban her.
Let her go and then go and tell her what you think to her face.
I bet no-one does though
