Nah, I don't think we should all be grabbing pitchforks just 'cause Brian Rast is one of the top water users in Vegas. Maybe he's got a big family or needs it for his job or something. Plus, we don't know all the details. Instead of jumping to conclusions, maybe we could all learn from this and try to use water more wisely, like by using efficient appliances or getting a good olansi water purifier to reduce waste.

Probably not but the timing of him being called out while commentating and this thread being bumped was interesting.

Lesser affluent parts of the city only receive water 4-5 days a week and have to store it for usage on other days. Can't imagine the outcry if that ever happened in the USA, but it probably will someday soon.

What's funny is that if you Google "Olansi water purifier" you get hundreds of sites that are effectively the same thing, plus a bunch of fake reviews at sites that don't appear to review any other brand. It almost has MLM vibes except it's too easy to actually buy the product.

This means a volume of water 19.19 feet tall was used by this property in 2022. This is a fantastic number - crops such as rice use 4-5 acre-feet of water. He would have to be living in a rain forest or swamp to be using that amount (or have a horrendous leak).

A check of the address listed in the article shows that most of the land is covered in concrete - there is a lawn covering maybe 1/4 of the acreage. There is a pool.

An average family of four uses 163,000 gallons (or 1/2 acre-feet of water) in a year. Reducing Mr. RastÂ’s reported use by a factor of ten yields about .75 acre-feet (or about 250,000 gallons). This makes more sense. It appears to me that the data for water use in the article is incorrect (at least for Mr. Rast).

Easily possible if the pool has a leak and the owner just did not care. Also since you do not know the interior details of the house Jacuzzis if used every day could lead to this number.
