More than 2 hours documentary on Vegas Dave. It's posted under his YouTube account so I guess he was the producer?

It was really well done. Certain aspects of his life are laid out raw. Cancer with his mom. Steroid use. Younger college days as a degen.

The dude is a straight up degen but he had great parents who were/are unflinching in their support.

He looks like he tried to use multiple fake social security numbers to avoid paying taxes but he's trying to paint a sympathetic image in the documentary, by saying why did the govt decided to target his winnings now after they didn't bothered him for so many years when he was losing.

Personally I wouldn't try to avoid the tax like he did (I'm assuming what you said is actually in the documentary without watching it), but it certainly is BS that past losses (from prior years) cannot be deducted from future winnings, and that you can never deduct losses higher than your winnings. Gambling straight up against the house without some kind of edge generates plenty of tax revenue for the government as is.

Most of the comments look faked from an Indian social media mining company - they have the same "My favorite part is XXX" format. For example:

My favorite part of the movie was watching you and your family’s reaction to the Royals winning your future bet. It was a very emotional part of the movie but it was gods plan.

My favorite part of the movie was when you didn't give up and stuck to the end and actually went to court to show you were being truthful and did nothing wrong.

My favorite part was the motivation speech you gave when you were in Cabo Mexico and a little before that showing the relationship between you and your parents ❤️

My favorite is when he gave his parents a gift, that is very very good to see you pay back all the sacrifices of your parents. All the success you made, you deserved it. Of course if you are called success, you share your blessings and thanks to Him. As a whole, your movie was inspirational. Hope you will choose me.

I would strongly advice to do some more research, this guy is a fake wannabe pro "bettor". Although he is amazing at marketing

Scammers gonna scam. Dude touts 70% win rate when actual winners like Billy Walters make millions with only mid-50% win rate.

The point of the video is to delve into the mind of a deeply degen, compulsive gambler/guru and see what makes him tick. Vegas Dave is not just a one dimensional con man. Driven by the adrenaline rush of gambling, he lucked out with the big wins on Royals, MMA, football bets. In fact, the govt case against him that prevented him from entering a sportsbook to do betting may have been one of the most fortunate thing to ever happen to him. He discovered sports "consulting". Selling crappy picks to thousands of unknowing sheep has netted the riches that he's always sought. If not for these lucky "breaks", Vegas Dave would have bankrupt his parents and ended up in jail or worse dead. But can we not say that about other people that this forum revere?? Ivey, Neeme and several others started out as degen gamblers who would have meet their doom but discovered that poker was a winning game. If not for poker, who knows where they would be now.

What's scary is that he produced such a fine documentary. The self awareness to know what others think of him can be used to manipulate them. He's not the bumbling, stumbling fool that I thought he was when I first saw him spew out his dumb picks ala Steve Stevens.

Yeah Vegas Dave and ilk are all "Carnival Barker" "Snake Oil Salesmen" "Conmen", etc... Take your pick of descriptions. Avoid like the plague.

Action a four part documentary on Showtime was pretty good, showing the good & bad aspects of professional sports betting.

The CNBC series about that convicted felon Steve Stevens, who I believe is really named Darin Notaro was total BS. Notaro started as phone scammer, hustling senior citizens traveling to Vegas then jumped into the sports "touting" business. Total slime ball.

Nolan Dalla wrote an interesting blog post about sports betting and who to follow;

It's like someone found a machine that prints legitimate $100 bills but rather than print money for themselves they came up with a business plan to lease it to others for a fee.

I watched like 5 mins and turned it off. I got the impression Vegas Dave financed/produced this? If I’m wrong and it’s not a two hour jerkoff of this scammer plz lmk and I’ll give it another shot.

Need some airplane entertainment later today.

Side note, everyone should watch The Alpinist on Netflix. It’s sick.

Andrew Neeme was a degen sports bettor before pokers? I've followed him since he started his YouTube channel and wasn't aware of this?

Neeme in one of his earlier videos, stated he had propensity for slots and other -EV games before he found poker. When he was talking about it, there was strong vibes of a gambling addiction/compulsion. Luckily, he found poker and was good at it. I think if you look through his older videos, there is one where he discussed his gambling beginnings.

Makes for a pretty interesting discussion. Is he still within the lines of "don't hate the player, hate the game" or is he already in (illegal) con territory?

Profitable sports bettors are not posting their picks publicly and there is no conceivable way to mirror their actions since you need to be fluid with your decisions to beat even the smallest market. You are not going to get the same prices as them, you are not going to place hedges at the same time as them. Dave is a longterm loser, and there is no reason to pay for his service. Customers are only paying for tout services because they are lazy and want free money. The problem with this is it is about the same level of effort that the touts are putting into understanding the industry, the markets, and the games themselves. **** Dave.

Dave is.

You made a pretty strong case as to why one should pay for his picks, given that no other profitable sports bettors do this.

Just watched the first five minutes of the movie and, while I've never heard of Vegas Dave before, I was very surprised, that 2.5 million dollars should be the biggest payout in the history of Vegas sports betting? This sounds pretty mediocre ...
