It's always special fun to see a poker player on tv (except for Annie Duke who was scary! ) ... like Alex on Jeopardy who was making 'all-in' gestures, and Kevin Martin on Big Brother Canada who was using combinatorics to solve competition puzzles.

It was fun when Garrett was on Survivor too, but it felt like he kind of started off at a disadvantage when they broke people down into teams of 'brains', 'braun', and 'beauty', and he got put with the brains but he 'looked' like he should have been put with the braun. And then when the brains had to vote someone out from their team, they voted out Garrett, instead of the lady that went crazy and threw all their food in the fire

Sort of feels like Vanessa might be starting out at a disadvantage as well, with their being a poker dealer in the house at the same time - it seems like the second people start considering voting the poker dealer out, she might point to Vanessa, and say to vote her out instead?

Whatever happened to the 'good old days' of casting 'twists' like the long-lost brother and sister that didn't know the other existed ... or the exes with the bad breakups, or identical twins secretly playing as one contestant, etc?

I do find the whole "game theory at Duke" thing hilarious. I often see tweets from Liv or Selbst offering an opinion/interesting link to something physics/law related respectively, but all Rousso ever says is "game theory at Duke" and I can only think of this hand: http://www.pokernews.com/live-report...hips.53941.htm

BB17 will be quite unpredictable this year with all the twists. My feeling is either Vanessa goes out early or goes all the way. Just depends on whether or not she's spotted.

Some times you put your opponent on a range of hands and other times you just put them exactly on AK and give away chips. So sick though.

These shows tend to cast people that will cause drama, conflict with each other etc... or else they would be boring and not get great ratings. I would not be surprised at all if they cast someone who was a rec poker player with a reasonable good chance of recognizing her. I think there is also a reasonable possibility that maybe another cast member might have been told ahead of time. Not sure of the rules of this show or if contestants are fed anything at all up front. The fact that it was mentioned multiple times during her contestant interview about other people finding this out makes it seem likely it will at some point come up on the show. I assume these video interviews are quite long and then edited down after the entire thing is filmed highlighting important items, almost a selective foreshadowing.

I love Big Brother. It would be a move to just say she is a poker player. There was a girl that was on in the early years that she was a professional blackjack player and she went pretty far in the game.

There is a transgender in the game this year as well. It will be a very interesting summer in the big brother house for realz. There will be so much stuff going on that her being a poker player will not be a big deal inside of the house. I think she will go far unless she acts like a complete dizz and be annoying in the house. I do believe that she will be an awesome asset for any alliance and can roll with the punches of anything that can come her way.

I think Vanessa is pretty much drawing dead here.

Given the number of 20 something guys on the show, I'd be shocked if she isn't recognized. If/when the poker thing comes out, the other players will probably not want her to win either because (a) they think that she will be "gambling away the winnings," or (b) they'll decide that she is already wealthy, so the prize money should go to someone more deserving.

Glad I wasn't the only one that thought this was Selbst. She would've been voted out quick. I like Russo don't get the annoying comments. Although I do agree with the trucker hat hate. She rode that train way too long.

Is it male poker players in particular that have a negative attitude towards women?

Nope, it's just Rousso and her horribly grating personality most don't like. Almost everyone here has mad respect for successful female players like Vanessa Selbst, Jennifer Harmon, Kathy Liebert, Loni Harwood, Amy Tran, etc..

Anyone have the video link of Vannessa acting like she had someone beat before mucking but was forced to show her hand and she had complete air? cant find it

From what I understand, one of the other players is a professional poker dealer so the chance of Vanessa not being known is under 10 %.
